  1. Hi, I'm new to the forum, so please do excuse me if this has been mentioned before. Are you aware of AutoPatcher? This is a problem that rolls up all of the patches, fixes, programs and tweaks for various MS OSs, which you can deploy locally on a PC? It's ideal for deploying to machines that have a slow or no connection to the net and truthfully, it's a lot more straight forward than downloading everything from Windows\Microsoft Updates. The latest version is up to May 2007 and you can also add programs, such as Adobe Reader 8, Shockwave, Flash, etc so that AutoPatcher installs everything together. I use it for when I'm building new machines after installing XP with SP2. Give it a try, http://www.autopatcher.com Cheers, MSG
  2. I can *highly* recommend Cobian Backup, which is freeware (Open Source). We use it in the 130+ schools that we support to backup the standalone admin PCs. It always you to pick folders, individual files, etc and schedule them for backup at different days, times, etc. We have automatic backups every day at a given time, which zips up all of the files and copies them to a USB HD. A very cheap and easy to set up backup solution. We use the final release of version 7, as it's very stable, but you might want to try 8. Download at http://www.educ.umu.se/~cobian/cobianbackup.htm Cheers, MSG
