Performance Optimizer puts MS Office apps and Acrobat in a deadly sleep, in a way that they can only be started in admin mode from then on. Taking them from the 'sent to sleep' list solves this problem, but outside this forum nobody knows. CC team, please solve the problem and spread the word. I spent hours with MS support too and was just about to trash my computer when I found this explanation in a different forum. Thanks.
