Recuva shows files in Excellent condition for Recovery but Aren't Playable

I recently tried to recover some mp4 video files from an external HDD. The files show in Recuva as being in excellent condition for recovery, but when i recover them to a separate drive and try to play them they do not play. I have tried 3 different video players and all of them are not able to play the video files. I know the files have not been overwritten because i haven't used the drive or added any files to the drive since I originally deleted the files. I will say though that at one point Windows said there were errors on the drive so i had Windows fix the drive so I'm wondering if that may have messed up the files that i want to recover.
