Moderators mta Posted September 15, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 15, 2014 it deletes the thumbcache_????.db files where ???? will vary depending on the thumbnail cache in question. if you aren't seeing any to clean, maybe you either have Always show icons, never thumbnails in Windows Explorer, or you aren't doing whatever generates them. OR this site, https://www.raymond.cc/blog/what-you-should-know-about-thumbsdb-file/ reports sometimes CC doesn't do the job, not that I've experienced this first hand. login123
Thanks, mta. Those little utilities are nifty. The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-) Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. Its a bunch of big, giant servers. But it will also contain the thumbnails of images that are no longer on the system. (This rule is for Window Vista only.) but i don't know if it's related to older version of ccleaner Mta did you test it ? i mean does it delete thumbcache located here C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer i'm running ccleaner last version under w8.1 64 and w7 sp1 64 thanks a lot
Moderators mta Posted September 18, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 18, 2014 Yep, it tests OK on my PC (Win8.1u1 Pro 64bit). I Analyse, it finds 9 (this time), I Clean, it removes them, Analyse again finds none. Just thinking outside the box, try running CC with the PC booted in Safe Mode. And when you say 'last version' i assume you mean v4.17.4808 ? Have you got that option ticked in Folder Options to not cache thumbnails? Your Analyse finds 0, is that really true, have you confirmed some thumbs cache files do exist?
