dethwaker3
I did a Full Defrag on my computer. When I click File List, I get a bunch of files. Should I check them all and press Defrag Checked or leave them alone? Please tell me the pros and cons of doing that, thanks! EDIT: I checked all the files and click Defrag Checked. I got a popup saying: "Defrag Aborted. Some files were not defragmented. This operation cannot be done."
Moderators mta Posted February 11, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 11, 2014 That is how I normally do my defrags . Click on the File list tab, hit Analyse, sort the Fragments column by descending size, select the first filename then scroll down and shift+select the first filename with 10 frags, then hit Defrag. I then repeat for the Size column, selecting all files greater than 10,000KB. That way I do a quick defrag of all files > 10 frags and all files > 10megs. What's left behind I can live with. Even doing that, I will sometimes get "defrag aborted", it's usually due to files that are open eg: Outlook. If you get that a lot, a DF from Safe Mode will fix it. Selecting all the files in the list would just be like hitting Defrag on the first tab. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last.
