The system booted once after defragmenting, then it hung, and now it does not boot saying that registry files are damaged. More likely, running DF was probably just the straw that broke the camels back. If DF had some sort of flaw or flaky method of reorganising the file structures then this forum would be full of similar posts. Without any info to go on, I assume you ran DF because the PC was going slow. It then booted OK after DF then failed to boot any more. That could easily fall into the description of a hard drive failure. Backup now & backup often.It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last.
