Please bear in mind It's a holiday weekend, and we are at a time of the year when the 100% volunteer membership may have more important things to do with family and such. Add to that Piriform itself closes down for normal weekends here in the UK, so there won't be any input from them. Firstly, can you provide a debug log which will assist the devs in looking at your issue ... http://www.piriform....y-in-debug-mode ... and attach the debug log here. Secondly, to ascertain as to whether it's a Speccy issue or one with your grandsons computer, try downloading a similar program to see if it can access the same information without any problems. SIW (System Information for Windows): This is the last freeware version, and when downloaded you simply double click to run it.
