ccleaner error when scannign registry

I get the following error when I try to scan the registry with the activex and class issues checkbox checked

1. I suggest you scan with all boxes unchecked to reconfirm a full scan of nothing is O.K.,

then check only the ActiveX box and confirm that this by itself causes the problem

 

2. I suggest you download from FileHippo an earlier version of CCleaner

e.g. CCleaner 2.30.1130.

 

If a 6 month old version gives no problem then either a bug has crept in,

or it is worth a new download and instal of CCleaner 2.35.1223 in case your present installation is corrupt.

 

If a 6 month old version has the same problem it could be something corrupted in the registry,

in which case it is out of my league and I am out of here !

 

I am of course assuming that the error comes during SCAN and not the subsequent FIX,

which opens a whole new can of worms.
