redcandle Posted September 1, 2010 Share Posted September 1, 2010 using a laptop with windows 7 64-bit If I defrag my drive and than analyze again the analyze is alot different than what it said the current state was after the defrag. Is this a bug or what? current state after a defrag 1 fragmented files 6 fragments 26% fragmentation analyze again right after and get 5 fragmented files 14 total fragments 29% fragmentation Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You can't defrag these files as they're in use, and Windows is adding to them as a matter of course, probably through "Shadow Copy", which backups files which are moved or modified.
