iner7ia
Hi guys, Ive been experimenting with secure deletion of the free space with ccleaner. Using DOD, NSA, and GUTMANN, I have found them all to take about 30min. I have a 160gb drive with about 70gb free, so 30min doesn't seem long enough, and shouldn't GUTMANN taken a lot longer then the others? When using secure deletion with DBAN bootnuke it says it will take days!! So is ccleaner really doing what it say it is. Does it only do one pass or something for the free space?? I do love ccleaner and think it is one of the best free apps made Cheers
Moderators Augeas Posted June 24, 2010 Moderators Share Posted June 24, 2010 Just one pass of zeroes, I believe. The secure file deletion methods apply to files, not wfs.
