Ccleaner

I cannot seem to get Ccleaner to keep my logins and usernames on sites of forums and also my googlemail. Everytime I use the cleaner it wipes them all off, and I have to retype my usernames or email addresses again.

I have tried the Options tab and Cookies tab and transferred the sites that are there over to the other side to keep, buts this still does not keep my usernames when I do a clean.

I am using Windows xp with IE8

Hi Raceylady, and welcome to Piriform.

There was a cookies problem with IE8 and CCleaner a few months ago, but was fixed with subsequent updates to CCleaner.

Are you using the latest version of CCleaner, and are you sure your Browser Settings aren't removing the cookies?

Not being clever here, just making sure. :)

You can ignore that post.

ident if you have nothing helpful to post, then don't post, its as simple as that.

I quite agree. I also have no idea where that post come from. And i hope you would think i would not just post something like that.

All i can do is apologise, There is 2 scenarios in why it would happen. Either way it would likely be the cause of the 12 little rug rats that have been running around my house since x-mas day.

All i can do is apologise.

No fate but what we make

Yes I am using the latest version of Ccleaner 2.27.1070. And as far as I can tell I think my browser is accepting cookies, I have looked on the settings and all I can find about cookies is under the Privacy tab on Internet Options, and Sites, and I dont have any sites listed there at all as being blocked. Is there another setting on my browser that I am missing?

I was thinking of IE8's "Private Browsing" feature may be checked.

While you are surfing using InPrivate Browsing, Internet Explorer stores some information?such as cookies and temporary Internet files?so that the webpages you visit will work correctly. However, at the end of your InPrivate Browsing session, this information is discarded. The following table describes which information InPrivate Browsing discards when you close the browser and how it is affected during your browsing session:

That would get rid of your cookies when you finished that particular browsing session. More info here:

Try it :)

When you've logged onto a site (try this forum for starters - there's only one cookie involved - forum.piriform.com). Close all of your open browsers, then go back into IE and visit the forum. If you're still logged in then your browser is retaining the cookie.

kroozer - you don't need forms AutoComplete to retain the cookies :)

True, but I was also responding to Racey's initial complaint:

Okay. Well I'm also using IE8 on XP (Home). My Ccleaner version isn't the latest, but I downloaded the latest portable version and ran that under a different user. That successfully retained this forum's cookie.

@ kroozer- Ahhh, gotacha. Sorry - I missed that bit!

@ RaceyLady - can you confirm whether your complaint is that when you go to the login page, you expect your login details to be pre-completed?

Ok all thanks for all the replies, I will now try and summarise to exactly what the problem is and what I have done.

1) When I use the cleaner, logins/usernames disappear from the login page. Like forums, my googlemail etc. for example, I have to retype the email address or the login username, these disppear.

2) I do not have Autocomplete form history ticked on the Cleaner page.

3) I have moved over the sites concerned on the Options Tab/Cookies on the cleaner programme to keep the cookies.

4) I do not use the Private browsing on IE8

5) Autocomplete settings on IE8 are Address bar Ticked, also browsing history and Favourties, not ticked is Feeds and Use Windows Search for better result. Not ticked is Forms - Ticked is Usernames and passwords on forms, and Ask me before saving passwords.

any ideas what I should do now.

Thanks

Oh I don't believe this folks.

I have re-enetered all the sites i use over to the cookies to keep on the options tab on the Cleaner, run the cleaner and did a full reboot of the pc, and all my logins and usernames have stayed in place???!!! Absolutely total confusion as this has not worked ever since I dl CCleaner which is months past.

I have altered any settings other than exactly that.

Do you all have this setting on the Options/Cookies to accept.
