Restoring CCleaner registry backup .reg file

Have you tried double clicking it?

 

You can right click it and select "open with".

Then choose "registry editor".

Double clicking produces the same result, i.e., the Notepad window with text.

 

And "registry editor" is not an available option in "open with."

 

BTW, my OS is Win XP Pro.

You should just get a window confirming whether or not you want to merge the entry.

 

Try right clicking the file, and select "Properties", and see what it's configured to open with. If it's not "Registry Editor", then click the "Change" box and set it to open with "Registry Editor".
