jayday
Just used this program to recover files from a damaged HDD. Thanks Piriform. I then conducted a bit of a test, comparing Recuva with File Scavenger. Nothing too scientific. I placed eight files onto a flash drive (2 Word Docs, 1 Excel Doc, 1 Text File, 1 Reg file, 1 jpg file, 1 pdf file and 1 Mp3 file. First of all I simply deleted the files. Both Recuva and File Scavenger found and recovered them all. Next I formatted the drive (quick format). Recuva found and recovered 6 of the eight with File Scavenger only finding 4! It's not always a case of 'you get what you pay for'. Well done Piriform keep up the good work.
Moderators DennisD Posted December 12, 2008 Moderators Share Posted December 12, 2008 Hi jayday, and welcome to the forum. Thanks for taking the time to post your findings. There's a lot of freeware available that outclasses similar commercial applications. We have an ongoing thread here which may be worth a look, although the earlier posts are a bit dated now. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=17921
