Question regarding how Defraggler deals with files currently in use?

Hi, I am a new user of Defraggler, and it appears to be a fine product. I have a couple of questions regarding Defraggler and how it deals with files that are currently in use (eg. an MS SQL Database, or an Exchange mailbox store).

Does the program see that the file is in use, and skip the file? if so, does it then retry to defrag the file again in the same session a certain number of times before giving up and moving on to the next file?

My question is due to watching Defraggler appearing to retry to defrag a file over and over and never reaching a 'defrag complete'.

Also, if I specify an "End task after" of 12 hours, is a premature termination of the program likely to have any negative effects?

cheers,

David.
