Windows Log Files

Is there any significant reason for keeping "Windows Log Files" -- or can they be "cleaned?" If this item is not checked in CCleaner, what is the normal retention time for these files -- and/or is there a setting somewhere to change the length of time these files are held before they're purged?

I've never kept them Tom, and I've never had an occassion when I needed to look at one. There has been times when the event viewer has been real handy, but never a log file.

Just MHO of course.

I guess that was one of my "big" questions. I thought maybe the Event Viewer files were included in the log files. Good to know they're not.
