Version 9.0 is designed as the successor of Windows Live Messenger 8.5 released in its final form at the beginning of November. The past week, Microsoft began sending out invitations to the private beta testing program of Windows Live Messenger 9.0. Subsequently, on November 27, the Redmond company opened up the beta testing program to a pool of some 5,000 participants.
