CCleaner isn't opening again. I've uninstalled it now. If there's a permanent fix I might think about installing it again but for now It'll remain uninstalled, I don't want it because it's unreliable
-
Thanks MeganCCleaner, the fix app worked and CCleaner is running/opening again. What I had not said before CCleaner was crashing recently. Could this have caused it not to work? Thank you ever so much I am very pleased

Hi I'm sorry for the delay answering. CCleaner has stopped opening I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times but it still won't open/run.|
I am using the latest OS X Ventura 16.2. 2017 Mac desktop SSD storage. Please help if you can thanks -
The free version will not open on my Mac. I've uninstalled and installed it but it just isn't opening or working. Anyone else having problems?

I've found some browser extensions that clear history on the popular browsers. I'm just using CCleaner as a final clean if that's what it does and It's reliable in doing that
-
The free version for Mac is pretty useless. It doesn't clean much at all. Popular browsers are locked out. I thought it was running smoothly when it showed the "Nothing to clean" but it's a lie because there is more to clean. It's pretty useless if it doesn't clean. I don't like being deceived or blackmailed into buying. It also doesn't clean the trash bin. another reason why Ccleaner is useless.
I'm desperately looking for a far better cleaner, anyone know of any? Don't bother with CCleaner free version it doesn't clean much at all. Pay for the working version if you like but I refuse to be forced into it. On the CCleaner home page there's no indication of how much to fork out, no you only find out when you're on the buying page then it could be too late.
I thought the CCleaner team were on our side but no, they're not. I hate being forced into anything.

The free version of CCleaner, 2 whatever it is, is pretty basic it hardly cleans much at all. It doesn't even empty the Bin.
I find it very mean fisted plus to find out how much it costs to get the basics included in the paid for version, entails committing to buy.
Most of the features are locked away forcing the purchase of the full version. It's almost like twisting ones arm.
I suppose it's a case of pay up or go without.
Previous free versions cleared the Bin at least. Showing a mean attitude results in resentment and a desire to leave.
I pay for anything that shows some kind spirited gesture but I don't when none is shown. I'll empty the Bin manually

Errmmmm ok.
This CCleaner are you sure it works? Because I just scanned and it identified trash files in the recycle bin. I did a clean and guess what? The trash file is still present in the recycle bin! I think you need to have another look at V2-3-136!
Plus log files still present after running CC

Just had to re-install 4 more apps CC deleted!!! What is CCleaner V2-3-136? Is it a JOKE app? It's doing things I don't want. I know how to remove apps and if I needed to I would do it without CCleaner. I need to uninstall CCleaner and try installing it again to reset the defaults

So CCleaner for Mac is deleting the logs - but only once each day?
I'm not sure about Mac but in the Windows version there are a few "Only delete files over 24 hours old" settings for various cleaning tasks.
I'd check the settings in the new Mac version for similar.
Well!! That was fantastic!! After checking the settings CC deleted my browser. I'm not impressed!! What were you thinking about when writing v2-3-136 code?
So now going back to settings to put them back to default. Would you mind writing the code for a Cleaner of history not the wipeout of essential apps?
It's not going terribly well for CCleaner is it? -
CC v2-3-136 is only deleting log files on the first pass but not on subsequent passes until the first pass on the day after. I also had to enter my password so no change from v1.18.30

New CCleaner for Macs released
It looks like any other of the "cleaners' it has similar features. I used it as soon as I installed it where it cleaned the log files. The log files don't appear on a subsequent scan.
Log files are always present but v2-3-136 isn't finding them. V1-18-30 would find them but didn't clean all of them.
I refer to CCleaner for Windows again, it cleans everything out and returns a result of zero files after 2 or 3 "Run Cleaner" actions.
Perhaps Admin will come up with a reason that will seem like an answer! I think this version just tries to assure the user everything has been cleaned and not to worry that it hasn't. V2-13-136 looks pretty and it is designed to break away from the older version but it's mostly cosmetic. Hmm oh well we get what we're given -

Well yes - as one might expect, if you are still using the old CCleaner 1.18.30 (which was released back in October 2020 for compatibility with BigSur 11.01) then, as per the notes above, it may well have issues with operating system versions that were released after that such as BigSur 11.1+, and Monterey 12.0+. As with any software, there is no guarantee that older versions will work on newer OSes that were released afterwards.
- For compatibility with BigSur 11.1-11.4 you would need CCleaner for Mac 2.0 (released June 2021) or higher.
- For compatibility with BigSur 11.5 you would need CCleaner for Mac 2.1 (released August 2021) or higher.
- For compatibility with BigSur 11.6+ and Montery 12.0 you would need CCleaner for Mac 2.2 (released November 2021) or higher.
Hi Dave. I always download the latest updates of everything. I can only see 1.18.30 to download. Hope the next update makes things better

An interesting hypothetical. You can try the free version of CCleaner for Mac 2.x in a little while when it is released and form your own conclusions perhaps?
With every update of OS X CCleaner gets worse

If the free version of CCleaner for Mac doesn't work then why would I buy CCleaner professional? If that's what you call it

@nukecad"Worried about Tracking Files?" <<Link>>
There's a lot on that link about Windows. Windows and CCleaner on my PC work fine I'm concerned that CCleaner doesn't work as well on Mac.
I hope the next update makes it work much better and gets rid of the constant "Helper Tool"
Marks out of ten for CCleaner on Mac 4 lets hope that improves

CCleaner has never worked to a satisfactory way. I have to constantly install the "helper tool" because I use CC a lot. I have never had a result of 0kb cleaned after seven to twelve cleans. I am trying to find a better cleaner but the alternatives just clear duplicate files, big files or unused files. I use CC on Windows too it works like a dream there but not on Mac

The help I just got was exactly what I'd already done myself. It didn't work so I've told them now I wait until they come back to me.
When I install with a fresh download I get the error message "The application 'CCleaner' is no open anymore" This is from Finder then the second attempt it just flashes with nothing then happening. From Launchpad I don't even get that, it's a none starter.
I have been searching for an alternative to CCleaner too.
