Another suggestion was that if Greenshot stops working with the 'prt sc' button then simply opening the Greenshot Preferences menu and closing it again resets it.

I don't think that CCleaner clears Greenshot temporary files as standard (but Winapp2 extension may do), but just in case you may want to make Greenshots temporary files an exception for CCleaners Custom Clean (that's only for Custom Clean not Health Check).
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Greenshot\*.*
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Greenshot\*.*
(There should be a logfile in that second one that may help you work out why it's getting turned off).
There may be others, or sub-folders within those, but from the pathnames I'd expect any Greenshot related temporary files to be stored in those two locations.

I'm not sure if those are of any helpto you, you may be better looking/asking on the Greenshot website.

Hi nukecad, Thank you very much for checking Greenshot and the tips you gave. I just uninstalled Greenshot and ran the installer as an Administrator. It's working better now - I can capture a CCleaner screen if I ever have that need again (hopefully not).

I don't know how it got turned off for you but if you turn it on again it will do the same thing as it used to (and as said above it will put an icon in the System Tray again).

As it did get turned off then you may want to check the Smart Cleaning settings.

Sorry but I don't know your screenshot utility so don't know just why it's being cleared.

Hi nukecad, my Smart Cleaning WAS turned on but still not working. So, I just tried what I guess I should have done from the start of this problem - I just uninstalled CCleaner and then reinstalled it. Now it's working as it's supposed to - I have CCleaner in the system tray after PC startup and the pop-up reminders are back.

The setting runs a clean in the background when you start your computer and then the background task closes itself when the clean is finished, it doesn't open the CCleaner interface.

It does put a flashing icon in the System Tray while it's working - but it's only there for seconds while it cleans so you could miss it. (Or it might be in the 'overflow box' (the up-arrow) and so not displayed in the Tray itself.

I think that for what you want the best way is to 'Pin' CCleaner to the Taskbar, then you can open it with just one click whenever you want to.
I keep it pinned there for easy use.

PS. Setting Options>Updates>'Keep CCleaner updated Automatically' or turning on Smart Cleaning will put an icon in the System Tray if you want one there. (But it takes two clicks to open CCleaner from those icons).

Hi Nukecad, Thanks for your reply! It has NOT always acted like this. It used to always be available in my System Tray (your "overflow box'). And, I would occasionally get a pop-up message telling me that I could save xxGB of space by running CCleaner. I have not seen one of those pop-ups in several months.

And, if I run it manually and then close it, it stays resident and is available in my System Tray. See attached screen clips. CCleaner is there because I ran it manually about 3 hours ago and it will remain available there until I restart my PC. I am beginning to have doubts that it even runs at startup.

Oh, one other thing that I JUST now noticed - when CCleaner comes to the front, it disables Greenshot (my screenshot utility)! In the 2nd attached screen clip, I had to use the Windows Winkey+Shift+S to get the screen clip.

I have CCleaner Pro v5.82.8950 in Windows 10 Pro v2004 (build 10941.1052). CCleaner is set to run when the computer starts, but it DOES NOT. At least it never shows in the system tray. If I want to use one of CCleaner's tools or utilities, I have to manually run it. I've used CCleaner for several years and this behavior just started about 3 to 4 months ago.

How do I fix this?
