Can someone explain why Ccleaner tries to connect to internet before launch? and how to stop it.
I'm using the paid version.
If I have no internet connection it takes more than a minute to launch. If I'm connected to the internet it launches in 2 seconds
I have disabled Check for updates to no avail.
This is more than a little suspicious.

Ccleaner is taking 60 seconds to load when I have my VPN connected, specifically VyprVPN - it doesn't matter which country I connect via or protocol I use it still takes 60 seconds. Without the VPN it loads in 3 seconds, using a different VPN ( Malwarebytes) it loads in 3 seconds.
With no internet connection at all Ccleaner takes 10 seconds to load.
Why does Ccleaner need to connect to the internet before it loads and why would VyperVPN and only VyperVPN cause it to load so slowly ?
Thanks for any help

You could create a batch file like the following and name it "ccsleep.bat" for example:
@ECHO OFF START "CCleaner" /WAIT "%ProgramFiles%\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" /AUTO "<path_to_psshutdown>\PSSHUTDOWN.EXE" -d -t 0
PsShutdown can be downloaded here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/downloads/psshutdown
Excellent! Thanks for the help

Thanks for the quick reply. It would certainly be handy for me.

Is there a command line parameter that will put windows to sleep rather than shut down. I had hoped that
QuoteQuotestart CCleaner.exe /AUTO /psshutdown -d -t 0
would work but no luck.

Thank you for your speedy reply.
I'm not using the Winapp2 extension. I've reinstalled Ccleaner as you suggested and that did improve loading times, its now 20 seconds when not connected to internet.
As far as it needing to connect to the internet is concerned, I understand the reasons you give, what I don't understand is why it needs to happen before, or while the program is loading.
I will keep experimenting.
