  1. Scheisse! Thanks for your response mate I will give Recuva a shot anyway - I've already used it to successfully recover some mp3 files but this Deep Scan looks like it probably won't be finished before humans have colonised Mars - the progress bar moves across but the estimated time left only keeps getting longer!?
  2. *** apologies for my loquacity! *** Hello all, I have an un-partitioned 500GB external HDD with documents, mp3s, mp4s, software etc. on it that I would love to be able to access. I don't remember what the file system is on it. > When I connect this drive to my HP ENVY notebook (Windows 10 Home) and try to access it, I get a message telling me "You need to format the disk in drive F: before you can use it" Needless to say, I'm not too keen on that option! > Also getting this message "F:/ is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognized file system". > And this one too (when running cmd prompt to run CHKDSK): "The type of the file system is RAW" > When I tried to use EaseUS (activated version), I was able to see all my files and the folder hierarchy, and to 'restore' some of them to my Desktop. However, even though the restored files had the same file names, sizes and formats, none of them would execute properly e.g. an mp3 would open in Winamp but not actually play, same thing for an mp4 in VLC Media Player. I've just installed Recuva v 1.52.1086 (free version for now)- could anybody please advise if this tool would be of any use in my situation? Cheers, many thanks for reading - JoeFish
