Thankyou Call me a chicken but I've gone back to v4.4064 pro tem. since this worked in the past. The hotfix looked rather complex when I checked it! Calm has been maintained.

Thankyou MTA. Have looked at the fix and doesn't quite seem to fit my symptoms. Think I'll wait and see if Piriform come up with their own fix. Thanks for your interest on this lovely Summer's day in UK. dunworking

From: dunworking: I've used Ccleaner for years with no problems. I recently installed v5.04 but when I click the icon to start it my PC closes down and restarts. I run XP and SP2. I don't want to instal SP3 or any other Windows version. If this is the only way out I will stop using Ccleaner unless an new version can be supplied. Regards
