  1. I have a 1.5TB hard drive I decided to wipe the free space to see if it would help speed up my PC I chose to wipe it one time. It scanned the hard drive that took around 45 minutes, then it said it would take 235 days 12 hours zero minutes and 47 seconds to complete. so I cancelled it. because I thought maybe I chose it so wipe it the max. this time I made sure I chose one time. started it, it took another 47 minutes, then said it would take 368 days 6 hours 37 minutes, and 13 seconds to complete. Why in the world would it take that long? I have gotten another program to wipe the hard drive. it can wipe the hard drive up to 100 times, with zeros or mixed characters or nothing. to ensure nothing can be recovered. anyway I ran it to wipe the empty space 20 times with mixed characters the most secure, and it only took 1 hour and thirty nine minutes to complete. so why dose it take so long for this?
