  1. This may have been covered in a previous thread but we could not find one. If it has been answered please indicate where. We have been using CCleaner for over five years now as a way to erase all data and reference to files. Our normal procedure is to run CCleaner at the EOD with the ‘wipe free space’ option checked. We use the three (3) pass method and we also wipe the MFT space. One of our clients found that we had sensitive data from their installation on one of our client machines and they demanded that it all be erased; which thing we did. We showed them the process we used and their security people were in agreement that the data was no longer available. Yesterday we ran MiniTool Power Data Recovery software on the drive of that client machine only to find the supposedly deleted/removed files that we had attempted to wipe completely the day before. Not only did we find almost all of the files that we were to have erased for this client but we found many files for pervious clients that were three (3) to four (4) years old. Some of these files were partially visible, some not at all and many in perfect condition. Our question is – What are we doing wrong? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
