I've downloaded it and click the icon to install it and it has that wizard pop up that says it will unpack the files first and then install the program. I go through all the steps but when all is said and done there are no icons on my desktop to click to open any of the programs in the suite. I'm doing something wrong and it's late in the day and my head is fried and I can't figure out what I'm doing. ANy help would be appreciated.
hi david,if you installed open office 2.4.1 then there is no desktop icon.if you go to programs,open office and double click on one of the components ie calc it will start up and ask you to register.you will then notice an icon in the system tray. right click on this and there is an option to start wth windows.if you install open office 3.0RC3 there is a desktop icon installed automatically.

Further to a recent post i did concerning acronis true image with disk director thrown in for ziltch you can get EASEUS Partition Manager Professional Edition 2.0 at giveaway of the day for today only,if anyone is interested.

Now there's the kind of deal I can understand.
Actually did buy it, installed it on a vm and used most all of the features. It worked well. Runs light enough. System backup and restore worked well, file backups worked well, DiskKeeper10 partitioning worked well. Haven't put it on the "real" computer yet. Soon...
Acronis has gotten good reports for years, and the name makes it worth the price, especially if you have limited time to experiment.

From what techguy described it sounds like its a saved search. cmdkeen is correct on the point. There is also a recent places link in the upper left window pane. If your having an issue with CC cleaning recent places and recently opened documents add this as under: Options>Include
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\*.lnk
Replace YOURNAME with your account name. This will clear both Recent Places & Recent Items. The recently chnaged files is a dynamic search folder. Nothing to clean.
if you right click on taskbar,select properties,start menu and untick the two boxes under privacy,you will no longer generate recent files and program usage

does anyone know how to bypass the welcome screen? basically i want to start my computer and bypass the login screen where i have to type in a password. it annoys me. is this something that can be changed in vista? not sure.
any help would be appreciated peeps.
i beleive it is similar to XP.clic start button,run,type---control userpasswords2--enter and untick box saying user must enter password.

Edit: If you download the Catalyst software pay close attention to what it will install, such as an offer for a free game and other possible crap.
i do not think that the problem is with the drivers.i have version 7.8 installed, drivers only without the other crap.

Uninstall current graphic card drivers using 'ATI Uninstall Application' (C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\UninstallAll\AtiCimUn.exe). After reboot, install drivers from the CD, that came with the card.
i have the latest drivers installed.the original drivers were on the xp disc i now use windows vista home premium.

earlier this year i updated the bios on my advent t9102 pc.the results were horrific,basically one ruined machine and one angry wife.i took the machine to my local pc repair shop and it was decided to install a new motherboard and i thought we will change the case at the same time to get a full size one.the azrock board was fitted,all original components were changed over including my ati radeon x600 graphics card.pc worked ok except for the fact that it went to black screen with wee sign saying no signal then went to bsod and had to be reset to start up again.on restarting a message came up saying it was the ati drivers fault.latest drivers are installed.i have now replaced the motherboard with one showing in my system and still same problem any ideas before i reach divorce proceedings.sorry for long winded post but no alternative.

I downloaded the latest version and doubleclicked it. A DOS box opened with the following error message.
Is it my Vista system or the program?
i downloaded mine from heidi computers,32 bit version double clicked and it installed ok.it appears to extract itself to C:\ Program Data,and then install to its own folder.No problems and i am using vista.

Version 5.84 of Eraser now available at major geeks or heidi computers.Works on windows vista,however right click on recycle bin to erase shows all erasing options.The eraser forum suggests removing them via the registry,i think it must be a bug.Apologies to hazelnut for posting in wrong forum.
