I have the same problem. I have used Recuva to recover an Excel file that has disappeared. Recuva seemed to find the file, showed me when it was created and last modified. When I saved the file to a new location I can't open it as "the format or extension is not valid". The file size is only showing as 1 KB. A wiggly line and $ has been added to the front of the file name. I wonder if this is a short cut or if I need to pay to open it.
