  1. Thanks for your suggestions, I'm not really willing to pay a fortune for programs that might not work! any freeware recommendations for 'flipping back the partition' would be appreciated, thanks
  2. @Keatah I have tried the imaging instructions that you gave. I went through all the options one by one and it came back with the error message 'Error 1 Bad user parameter returned by RMPARTUSB. When I click ok on the final option, the command prompt style box appears with a message saying 'Number of sectors to copy parameter (0) invalid. Drive/file may not have valid partition structure?' I then click ok and the command prompt style box closes, It's then when I get the 'Error 1 Bad user parameter returned by RMPARTUSB.' message
  3. Regarding the drive letter.. do you mean is there a letter next to it when it's showing in My Computer? If so, then yes, it has
  4. Hi, I have tried the RMPrepUSB again and it still says that it has completed successfully. Tried formatting...still saying windows cannot format. Tried PhotoRec and still not finding any files. Really thought that this might have worked! I'd like to thanks DennisD for all your hard work in trying to help me recover my photos! I was at a total loss, at least I have now tried to get the photos back! @Keatah sorry I have not tried imaging yet, but thankyou for the advice and I will now be looking into trying this.
  5. What do you mean about the drive letter? If you mean does windows recognise it, then yes. But this has always been the case. Whenever I try to open the card though it says it needs formatting, if I try to format it then says windows was unable to complete the format. I have tried opening it after using the last software that you recommended and it still says the same (that it needs formatting)
  6. Tried it, said that it had completed...then tried PhotoRec...no joy, it didn't find any files!
  7. Ok thanks, I'll try it now...fingers crossed!
  8. Thanks for your advice...but I'm not sure what 'imaging means? I'm ok doing things on a pc as long as I'm given step by step instructions!
  9. Thanks for all this info! Really glad to have some help with this! I am just trying to use the RMPrepUSB Portable tool... I have selected everything that you have shown but I get the following error. Do I need to try again, selecting FAT16 instead? Even though the actual card is 4GB?
  10. hi, i'm not sure how to create a new partition on it? i know you said this would probably not work but thought i'd give it a try!
  11. No, I have only ever had photos/videos on the card. Never had any unusual files on it. Here are the screen shots for ''Show Disk Properties'' and ''Show Partition Properties''
  12. Here are the 2 screen shots that you asked for...
  13. I have downloaded the Mini Tool Partition Wizard.. Heres the screen shot, picking the card up but only saying 30mb
  14. I've tried the TestDisk program I can select the sd card as shown then when select Advanced it says No Partition Available
  15. Yes, Windows does detect the card...tried what you have suggested but when I click on 'Check Now' I get the message 'The disk check could not be performed because the disk is not formatted. Would you like to format the disk' Obviously I have tried formatting from this message but still no joy!
  16. The photos are quite important, thankfully I backed quite a lot of them up but the most recent ones I hadn't got round to doing! I have tried the USB Image Tool and it is not detecting the card, tried another sd card and it picked that one up fine! Don't think I'm going to be getting them back am I
  17. I have tried the other options on 'MiniTool Power Data Recovery' and still nothing! Not looking good!
  18. I'm connecting the card with the card reader that's built into the pc tower (never had any problems using it this way before) have also tried connecting it in the camera via USB I have tried formatting it using the camera, it starts formatting then just goes back to the message saying that it needs to be formatted. I have tried PhotoRec.. Selected the correct drive, chose Proceed It then comes up with the partition P Unknown, selected 'Search' then 'Other' for the file type then pressed c to save the files It then searches and finds 0 files to recover
  19. It's a 4gb card, and has always worked fine with Vista before Tried the SD Card Formatter but it just keeps saying 'The Memory Card is write protected. Please release the write protect switch' ...the 'lock' on it is deffo not on?
  20. Hi, Thanks for the reply. I have downloaded and tried the Damaged Partition Recovery but it doesn't show the sd card on the list of devices? Just to add...I have also tried formatting the card in the camera (that doesn't work) I have tried another card in the laptop and that works fine. The program that you suggested picks that one up but not the corrupted one. I am using Windows Vista
  21. Hi, My SanDisk SDHC card suddenly says that it's needs to be formatted when I connected it to the pc or in the camera. I try to format it, but it says 'The format could not be completed' I have several photos on there that I haven't backed up! If I look in Computer Management the file type says RAW (I know the original file type was FAT32) Any ideas on how I can restore my photos? Thanks
