  1. The issue got fixed after I stopped VSS and let the full defrag run all the way through. What does VSS stand for though?
  2. What's the difference between primary storage and the hard drive?
  3. Hey guys I googled about multi-threaded defragging and and found this answer. "It's not a limitation of the software. Hard drives aren't designed for parallel processing so multi-threaded defragging isn't really beneficial." But I don't understand, if hard drives aren't designed for it then how do you explain all the other multi-threaded programs out there? (multi-threaded gaming, video converting, ect)
  4. Oh ok. Thanks. I cleaned off 112 gig and that seems to have helped because now I restarted the defrag process (regular not the quick one) and it seems to be doing the job much quicker. It should be completed in a day or two.
  5. Well I discovered it's a file in the folder called "system volume information" which I'm going to try to compress, that defraggler is making larger and larger.
  6. Update: I aborted the defrag and am doing a quick instead. According to what it says the fragmented percentage has actually increased.
  7. Well this is odd after doing that and running disk cleanup itself, according defraggler the number of free bytes has dramatically dropped, Is it possible defraggler is mis-reading the size info?
  8. Maybe it already did but I'm not sure. Free Space bytes says, a number that's a little over 690,000,000,000 bytes but next that it says 648.2 gig are free. What's the deal?
  9. Hey guys I've been using defraggler for a few months now. I recently got a new machine loaded all my stuff onto it and am now defragging the drive with defraggler. After getting part way through the job I noticed my free space drastically decreased and continued to. I saw the thread about checking the option "stop VVS...." I did so, and now it seems to be decreasing at a much slower rate. But I want to know, throughout the rest of the defrag job will I get back free space I lost from when I didn't have that option checked?
