  1. When 2.18.878 was released I received the usual prompt that a newer version was available after I opened the CCleaner main program window. I used the automatic upgrade installer. When I uninstalled CCleaner earlier today, I used the FileHippo site to reinstall (after linking to it from the CCleaner home page.) When that didn't work I uninstalled again, used Windows built in search feature to find any unremoved (orphan) CCleaner and/or Piriform files. Also used another search tool (Copernic Desktop Search.) Finally used regedit to clean registry of all CCleaner and Piriform entries. Used FileHippo again to reinstall. Problem still exists with Cleaner module only. Registry module has always worked perfectly in both Scan and Fix modes.
  2. XP Pro w/SP3 and IE7 CCleaner v2.18.878 When I click the Analyze button (in Cleaner) the scan immediately starts at 39% and just hangs there. I've let the scan run for more than an hour but it doesn't change. I've uninstalled CCleaner, done routine maintenance (disk cleanup, defrag, etc.), rebooted, reinstalled CCleaner. Problem did not go away. If I click Cancel (while in Analysis scan) I will get the prompt : ANALYSIS CANCELLED - (38.861 secs) (or whatever time the scan was running) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This analysis is incomplete ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 0 bytes to be removed. (Approximate size) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I've been using v2.18.878 since its release. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Any suggestions or thoughts?
  3. As originally posted, Version 2.08.588 slowed Analyze Scan down to more than 40 seconds. The Run Cleaner scan also slowed down but not quite as much. As of this morning, the Analyze Scan is taking almost 90 seconds. Run Cleaner scan is taking almost 30 seconds. Absolutely nothing has changed on my computer since I originally posted this problem. I removed .588 and once again reinstalled 2.07.575 without success. I worked my way back to 2.05.555 and finally got the scan times back to "normal" (about 2 seconds for Analyze and less than a second for Clean.) Is there nobody from the CCleaner team who can offer a possible explanation for this anomaly?
  4. Recently updated 2.07.575 to 2.08.588 and discovered the Analyze scan is now taking over 40 seconds. In previous versions the scan would never take longer than 5 seconds and usually finished in about 2 seconds. I uninstalled / reinstalled .588 with no changes noted. Tried going back to .575 and it took about 45 seconds to complete the Analyze scan. Used CCleaner to scan for and fix registry issues, but .588 Analyze scan still running more than 40 seconds. Also have a slow down problem with Run Cleaner. Previously, it would finish almost instantaneously (about a half second.) Now it takes about 10 seconds. If I run a second Analyze scan immediately following the Run Cleaner, it still takes over 40 seconds to finish. All CCleaner settings are recommended default and I've never deviated from that even in prior versions. My computer has XP Pro w/SP2 (not SP3). My antivirus, antispyware and firewall have not changed and are all up to date. I did not alter any computer settings, add/delete any programs, etc between the time I ran the last Analyze scan with .575 (which took about 2 seconds) and the time I updated to .588 the first time (when slow scan was initially noticed.) I've run a couple of independent diagnostics on my machine and everything checks OK. Anybody have a similar experience or have any thoughts?
  5. Sorry to be such a bother but most guys think us females usually are! Anyway, here's the screen shot. There's not a whole lot to see because I run disk cleanup a few times a week as well as deleting cookies, files and history via control panel -> internet options just about every day. Hope this helps, and thanks to everyone who's been kind enough to reply. Even you, Mr. Eldmannen! 6. Thanks for the quick reply. Forgot to mention I had CCleaner version 1.28.277 previously installed and everything worked fine. I used the FileHippo.com link to upgrade to 1.29.295 when the anti-spy problems began. In addition to temporarily deactivating first the anti-spy and then the entire suite, I completely uninstalled the upgraded 1.29.295, ran a search thru files and folders and deleted everything related to CCleaner, and finally did a regedit and deleted all mention of CCleaner. I then started from scratch and downloaded a clean (not upgraded) version of 1.29.295 but the anti-spy problems persisted.
  7. My ISP provides a free security suite that includes anti-virus by Computer Associates, anti-spyware by Pest Control, pop-up blocker, parental control, and incoming/outgoing email virus scan (last three proprietary thru ISP.) When I ran CCleaner (latest version released 5/3/06) my anti-spy would no longer scan. I could access the security suite, and all other functions worked fine, but the anti-spy just refused to work. I had to uninstall that portion of the security suite, go to the ISP help site, download and reinstall the anti-spy software. Even tried deactivating the anti-spy by itself and then the entire security suite until CCleaner was finished. Made no difference. The anti-spy won't scan after CCleaner does its thing. Needless to say, it's an inconvenience to have to reinstall the anti-spy each time I use CCleaner, especially since I like them both. Any thoughts or suggestions?
