  1. Anything specific? Size? Speed? Cause the faster the spin speed, the better the performance, but the more battery it will use. However, 4200 is way too slow. 5400 is the minimum speed, and 7200 is the speed desktop hard drives spin (for the most part- exceptions are mainly the WD Raptor line which spin at 10000 RPM, and SCIS drives, but you don't have to worry about that).

  2. I would join, but I've been folding for MaximumPC and have over two hundred thousand points with them. Here are my stats --> http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/use...s=&u=343106 Currently the team is ranked third in the world. And I didn't "join their bandwagon," because I've been an active subscriber to their magazine for a few years now, and joined their forums a few months ago. If I knew a lot of people would join, then I'd switch, but for now I'll stay on Team 11108.

  3. Corona you fool, it's Xion44 :P . Unless you're being sarcastic, he was a decent contributor - Xion's profile

Anoleus, it's been a pleasure. I wish you well in your endeavors. Have fun, and take a lot of pictures. I'm assuming you've healed from your accident that took you out of commission, so it's great that you're doing a lot better.

  4. HP update link to Drivers Is this of any use to you?

You might be out of luck though. I think that's an onboard graphics card, and it might be beyond its useful life when it comes to games. A quick Wikipedia search shows that OpenGL is into version 3 from this past March Wiki OpenGL page. I know the latest drivers were in '04, but that's pushing into 5 years old. Sad to say it, but even basic gaming tasks beyond Flash games will be a problem without a modern graphics card.

  5. Well Pwillener, I suggest you dump your entire computer and buy another one. Not "made in Russia" is it ? Perhaps a valve set ?

Defraggler is the most invaluable program I have ever found on the net. It is super efficient, lightening fast in completing a defrag and absolutely trouble free. I simply cannot imagine how a company like Piriform can offer such a miraculous program as a freebie.

It is so versatile in defragging selected files or free space or the entire computer.

One guy on a Computer Forum said in answer to my Defraggler tributes - "I see no point in messing about with these kind of programs when Windows Defrag works just as well or even better".

This is the most crap statement I have ever seen. WINDOWS DEFRAGGER !!! This Sloth-like system takes 5 hours or more to complete. If you are over 30 years old, then forget Wndows Defragging - you just ain't got enough life left.

My verdict is, if you are getting older waiting for Defraggler to finish, then the fault is at your end NOT Piriform`s.

Buy another set, life just may be easier for you, but don`t blame Defraggler for being slow.

Gosh man, the defrag is over in SECONDS !

Of course the members of this Forum may tell you where you are going wrong - that is what Forums are for - but going wrong you are. I have had superb response and service from Defraggler for years with NO trouble.

Seconds to defrag every time, whenever you wish to do it..

Dude, chill out. It's been noted that not every configuration works perfectly. I do wonder what pwillener's hardware specs are, but there is no need to go off on him. He came here asking for help, and in no way was he bashing Piriform. He was merely asking for assistance. However, the last time Windows built in defrag program took that long was on my parents Pentium Pro Gateway 2000 based system. I'm not promoting it, and I love Defraggler, but I've never had that much of a problem with Windows' built in implementation. I too have never had trouble with it, but you don't have to go off on him. If he didn't want help, he wouldn't have come looking for it. It seems that he wants to use the program, so your comments were totally uncalled for.

pwillener, I am curious to see what your hardware specs are. I wonder if it has something to do with your crazy amount of partitions.

  6. It doesnt look that good unless you click on it.

Jrmint...can you go back and change the pics so that they are family friendly? I uses ImageBam and it seems if you don't select that, it defaults to Adult Content, and when I clicked through, I had to say that I was over 18 (I am) and two webcam popups came up featuring girls doing elicit things. It seems to do that as it's advertisement scheme.

  7. If there is no policy, then there has to be a way to fight it. I have never heard of CCleaner being albe to clean out things across the network. I might be a young adult, but I think you will be able to fight it.

  8. Is Windows 7 going to be the name of the OS when it finally hits the streets? It's not exactly a snazzy name and the only reason I can think of for it's name is it's (by my count) the 7th version of Windows starting from Windows 95 (95, 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, 7). Have I missed out any other Microsoft OS there?

You did forget some. Actually, it's based on the NT versions - the underlying code. From http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=568

Update: A few people are wondering how you get to ?the seventh version? and thus qualify for the Windows 7 moniker. I don?t know the answer definitively, but can easily get to that point if I count only members of the NT family with numbers attached to their names: Windows NT 3.1 (yep, that was the very first release), 3.5, 4.0, 2000, XP, Vista. That?s six, making the next release number 7. If you try to count using the consumer versions from the Windows 9X family (or the barely usable Windows 1 and 2 releases), you?ll quickly go mad.

It really needs a better name. Windows 7 just sounds like a temporary name given while the product is in development. Out of interest, what were XP and Vista called while they were in the development stages?

  9. Hey...no need to use all caps. You will get help. Don't worry. But this should be in the CCleaner forum section - Mod will move it sooner or later.

My ideas are to uninstall the old version, and then clean out the registry with CCleaner. Can you link us the offer before you do anything?

  10. Have you tried to install the newest drivers? If not, does the card have fan? It looks like it is possibly overheating - if it has a fan, try to increase the fan speed. If not, it is a older card, and it might be dieing. See if you can try that, if not, see what warranty options you have.
