  1. I've been using Defraggler since 2007, and must say I did like your product. However, during this past week, when I run chkdsk after running a full defrag with Defraggler it tells me "Windows has replaced bad clusters in file #####". I know you're supposed to run chkdsk before defragging. However, for confirmation purposes, I decided to run chkdsk after defragging also. Without getting into detail about how I came to the conclusion that Defraggler is causing Bad clusters, let me just give you the quick version: - I've 2 partitions, 1 for the OS and the other for data. I've got a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro on my laptop, installed SP1, installed necessary drivers and updated everything. Deleted all Temp files, run disk cleanup and CCleaner. Finally, a full defrag with Defraggler v2.02. Next, restart machine to find all is not well. After a long day finding out why, finally ran chkdsk to find bad clusters on HD. As a test, I've decide to re-format HD install Win7Pro, finally install SP1. Then, run chkdsk. Run full defrag with Defraggler. Run chkdsk. Result: - 1st chkdsk- OK. 2nd chkdsk after full defrag with Defraggler: Bad Sectors. This test has been run several times already and I keep getting the same result above. Tried test again when Defraggler v2.03 was released, only to get the same results. I've already ruled out HD being bad, as I purchased a brand new replacement HD last week, installed it yesterday and had ran the above test to get same result. I've also removed both partitions and just having one partition - same result again - bad sectors. Your probably reading this thinking, maybe it's just your laptop. I thought so too until I decided to run a test on a spare partition on my desktop computer yesterday (Win7Pro SP1). Put some data into it (Documents, Images, Movies, Music), run chkdsk- OK, run full defrag with Defraggler v2.03, run chkdsk- bad sectors. Interestingly though, there were no bad sectors after a full defrag with Defraggler v2.02 on the desktop (done last week). So at least for now on the desktop I'll be sticking with v2.02. What I've noticed over the past week after doing all this on both machines is that the main files being hit with bad sectors are JPG, TIFF, MP3, WMA, CAB. So some of images are incomplete, music files are choppy when played. Luckly, I've got backups. Would like to know if anybody else has been experiencing this? Or is just me? Any suggestions please?
