  1. ... please be patient as it will (with 99% likelihood) return in the january release of ccleaner (or feb ...

By the time February rolls around, I'll have a workaround in place.  Instead of my desktop shortcut calling ccleaner with the /shutdown option, it will call a command file that first calls ccleaner, and then the windows shutdown command.  So don't trouble yourself on my part.

  2. The list of programs on the Applications tab contains some older versions of programs that I have upgraded.

For example, I am currently running Avast 8.0, yet ccleaner also lists Avast 5 and Avast 6 on the application tab. Ditto for Foxit Reader 5 and Foxit Reader 6.

What does ccleaner use to determine the presence of application? Why does ccleaner think older versions are still present, is it partial uninstalls? Might it be possible to add a capability in ccleaner to clean up these partially-uninstalled old versions?

  3. Why not just use firefoxes settings to not save passwords then uncheck passwords under mozilla?

Then why does CCleaner have the password removal option for Firefox/Mozilla if it is not needed?

All I am asking is for the two applications, Thunderbird and Firefox, to be treated as two separate applications.

  4. I use the Thunderbird email client and also the Firefox browser.

I want Thunderbird to remember passwords. I do not want Firefox to remember passwords.

So I configured ccleaner to remove Mozilla/Firefox passwords. Up to and including version 3.03, ccleaner worked as I expected. However, with version 3.04 a bug was introduced that deletes the Thunderbird passwords when I have Firefox password removal checked.

Can Firefox and Thunderbird processing be split into two separate applications on the checklist of what is to be deleted?

    Windows 7, 64-bit, not SP1 yet.

  5. I use FireFox (v3.6.10) as my browser and ccleaner (v2.35.1219) on Windows 7 - 64bit

ccleaner was able to clean up enough (or maybe all) of the "evercookie" so that I was assigned a new, different evercookie the next time I visited that site.

One thing to keep in mind about the evercookie --- flash cookies and regular cookies are limited in that they can be accessed only by the site that created them. evercookie has no such limits. The javascript, regardless of the site from which it is run, will be able to read any evercookie on your disk, regardless of the site that created it. This, in particular, is a gross security breach of past practices in tracking cookies.
