  1. By the time February rolls around, I'll have a workaround in place. Instead of my desktop shortcut calling ccleaner with the /shutdown option, it will call a command file that first calls ccleaner, and then the windows shutdown command. So don't trouble yourself on my part. Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright © 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. c:\users\mgm>shutdown /? Usage: shutdown [/i | /l | /s | /r | /g | /a | /p | /h | /e] [/f] [/m \\computer][/t xxx][/d [p|u:]xx:yy [/c "comment"]] No args Display help. This is the same as typing /?. /? Display help. This is the same as not typing any options. /i Display the graphical user interface (GUI). This must be the first option. /l Log off. This cannot be used with /m or /d options. /s Shutdown the computer. /r Shutdown and restart the computer. /g Shutdown and restart the computer. After the system is rebooted, restart any registered applications. /a Abort a system shutdown. This can only be used during the time-out period. /p Turn off the local computer with no time-out or warning. Can be used with /d and /f options. /h Hibernate the local computer. Can be used with the /f option. /e Document the reason for an unexpected shutdown of a computer. /m \\computer Specify the target computer. /t xxx Set the time-out period before shutdown to xxx seconds. The valid range is 0-315360000 (10 years), with a default of 30. If the timeout period is greater than 0, the /f parameter is implied. /c "comment" Comment on the reason for the restart or shutdown. Maximum of 512 characters allowed. /f Force running applications to close without forewarning users. The /f parameter is implied when a value greater than 0 is specified for the /t parameter. /d [p|u:]xx:yy Provide the reason for the restart or shutdown. p indicates that the restart or shutdown is planned. u indicates that the reason is user defined. If neither p nor u is specified the restart or shutdown is unplanned. xx is the major reason number (positive integer less than 256). yy is the minor reason number (positive integer less than 65536).
  2. The list of programs on the Applications tab contains some older versions of programs that I have upgraded. For example, I am currently running Avast 8.0, yet ccleaner also lists Avast 5 and Avast 6 on the application tab. Ditto for Foxit Reader 5 and Foxit Reader 6. What does ccleaner use to determine the presence of application? Why does ccleaner think older versions are still present, is it partial uninstalls? Might it be possible to add a capability in ccleaner to clean up these partially-uninstalled old versions?
  3. I have only tried LibreOffice Writer so far. The recently used files option on the Files menu shows all of the files I recently edited in Writer, even after I run ccleaner. LibreOffice 3.5 (also occurred on version 3.4.5) Windows 7, 64 bit ccleaner 3.15.1643 (64 bit)
  4. Then why does CCleaner have the password removal option for Firefox/Mozilla if it is not needed? All I am asking is for the two applications, Thunderbird and Firefox, to be treated as two separate applications.
  5. I use the Thunderbird email client and also the Firefox browser. I want Thunderbird to remember passwords. I do not want Firefox to remember passwords. So I configured ccleaner to remove Mozilla/Firefox passwords. Up to and including version 3.03, ccleaner worked as I expected. However, with version 3.04 a bug was introduced that deletes the Thunderbird passwords when I have Firefox password removal checked. Can Firefox and Thunderbird processing be split into two separate applications on the checklist of what is to be deleted? Windows 7, 64-bit, not SP1 yet.
  6. I use FireFox (v3.6.10) as my browser and ccleaner (v2.35.1219) on Windows 7 - 64bit ccleaner was able to clean up enough (or maybe all) of the "evercookie" so that I was assigned a new, different evercookie the next time I visited that site. One thing to keep in mind about the evercookie --- flash cookies and regular cookies are limited in that they can be accessed only by the site that created them. evercookie has no such limits. The javascript, regardless of the site from which it is run, will be able to read any evercookie on your disk, regardless of the site that created it. This, in particular, is a gross security breach of past practices in tracking cookies.
