  1. I think I solved my own problem. I gave up on the third scan after 8 hours when the wait time had gone up to 3 hours! On the fourth try, I only checked about 15 files. They were recovered almost immediately, and I finally found the restored images in Picasa. The only weird thing is that the pictures all showed up intact at first, but within a few seconds the bottom half of several of them disappeared. But as long as I got most of them back, I guess I'll have to be satisfied.
  2. When I tried to import my pictures from my SD card into Picasa, somehow the files were deleted and the memory card was erased. I have run Recuva twice now, and both times it has gotten stuck. The first time was on a deep scan, and it froze at "82% complete, 0 files recovered" after running all night. So I followed the advice I found on this forum and closed Recuva and re-installed it. The second time I just scanned the SD card, and it came up with a boatload of files, most of which were marked "excellent," so I checked the ones I wanted to recover, and waited. That was about 6 hours ago, and when I tried to see what was going on, the program stopped responding! So should I re-install again and start over? I'm afraid I'm scrambling the information more every time I try to recover it. Update: (1:00 a.m.) I went ahead and re-installed again, and used the list view and highlighted the files instead of checking the boxes. I don't know if that made any difference, but it started the recovery process this time. Now for the past hour or more the message has said "45% complete, 67 files recovered." And every time I look at it, the "estimated time left" gets longer-- starting at 5 minutes, and now its up to an hour. Will this eventually finish if I wait long enough? Or should I try different software?
