  1. << Is learning about the MFT... it looks like removing the recoverable list is impossible, however when attempting to recover the supposedly *recoverable files* all you will receive is garbage or not what was in the original file (If you have wiped free space etc of course). Maybe there are MFT tools that have workarounds to deal with the *recoverable file list*? Quote: Another secure delete tool that states it clears up file names from the MFT http://www.myplanets...ee/wipehelp.php Wiping old Master File Table (MFT) Entries Even thought you delete the unused space the old file names (those not wiped by wipe03) still remain in the hard disk. There is no straight method to remove these old file names from MFT. Wipe03 however can wipe old MFT entries with the /M option in NTFS volumes only. The method desribed next wipes the data of 99% to 100% of all old unused MFT entries (it does not remove the MFT entries, only overwrites their data safely with random values). http://www.myplanetsoft.com/free/wipe.php /quote Sounds like a solution... perhaps Piriform could integrate this into their products? Edit: http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/downl...p1&type=pdf Page 17 of this document shows a list of products that do what I need :3. Edit: The Free wipe tool mentioned above works... Awesome!.. just a bunch of random 0byte filenames showing up in recuva.
  2. Hi, I'm using the latest version of Recuva.. Steps to reach problem: - Scan drive with default settings - Check all files - Overwrite all files 3 pass - Done, Complete - Scan volume again.. Result: exact same list/amount of files, same amount of recoverable files (Green) I've tried 2 other file shredding programs, both of them report in the interface that they have been successful, but it appears nothing actually happened to the data on the disk. Could this be a Windows 7 problem? Will I have to downgrade my OS just to achieve security? :/ I've also tried securely wiping free space in CCleaner - this has literally zero effect. I need the list of files showing up in recuva to be eliminated as well as the data on the disk to be overwritten, of course. Thanks..
