Regarding Internet Explorer browsing history: CCleaner with all boxes checked under "Internet Explorer" appears to leave behind the browsing history of all files located on the local machine and at least some web pages that were opened in IE via third-party programs such as Macrium Reflect. I updated Recuva on Feb. 19 and March 3. Reviewing records today I find that the Ask toolbar was installed on both occasions, despite the fact that I most definitely unchecked that option.
