  1. In regards to this thread and for anyone that does not want to get banned by accident:

In the future do not use foul language when reporting a post, just report it as someone being disrespectful, etc., or whatever the reason is.

Had I not looked through this topic about the MP3 player issue and then fully realized someone was attacking the topic starter I would've outright banned the topic starter for the questionable remarks sent via the report post function. You've literally dodged a bullet.

Everyone needs to be especially careful when reporting posts which all moderators and all admins will have in their PM boxes and who knows which one of us could or would ban someone for using some questionable remarks when reporting a post. Don't get yourself banned in the process because someone pissed you off because getting out of line with us is a sure fire way to get booted off here.

    Thanks for that And

Dennis.. You are truly truly a star. Your advice worked :D . You cannot imagine how delighted i am ..Thanks a million, you are brilliant !!!!!

  2. You're right, my bad. It was about 8-9 months ago I had a similar problem and couldn't remember what I did.

Leave it connected and uninstall the driver. I've just done it myself, and although it may say it is uninstalling the Walkman, it's just uninstalling the driver.

As soon as you do it, your Walkman will do what it does when you disconnect it normally. No worries.

The driver is being removed from your PC. Nothing will be done to your Walkman.

And I meant to look at backing up your songs at some convenient time, maybe not right now. Apologies for that.

Thanks a lot Dennis. I will try this and let you know. You have been a tremedous help :)

  3. c33, I've edited your post as I want a line drawn under the misunderstandings.

Leave your Walkman disconnected while you do this.

The walkman symbol wont appear if the mp3 is not connected . I tried copy and pasting all the songs ( all in one scoop) to a folder but my system wont allow this - too many files :(

  4. Can I say that I think this thread was muddied totally by the idiot with the attitude and the foul mouth.

I think c33, being new to the forum, was completely, and not surprisingly, completely fazed by this guy, and the slight attitude from him was really caused by the idiot. We're all strangers to c33, and he was understandably suspicious of all of us as a result of that.

Can we put the misunderstandings to bed, now that the real trouble maker has gone for good.

    :)

Thank you , i truly appreciate it. I am geuninely concerned about the problem with my software . Their is so much music i want to add , but cannot :( . I feel kinda frustrated , some because of my lack of knowledge of pcs and the inability to put this right. I have always said that i appreciate the fact people have taken the time to address my query . I have been on this for a few hours now and well im known the wiser :(

  5. c33, I have a Sony Walkman, and obviously use my computer to transfer music to and from it, and it's set up is really quite easy as there is no setup.

The Walkman works straight out of the box with either Windows Media Player, which I use, or drag and drop with Windows Explorer, which I don't use.

There aren't any drivers to install for the Walkman

Thank you, That is what i have been saying over a million times but was not listened to...

Then reboot your computer and Windows will reinstall the driver. Hopefully this will solve your problem.

As soon as you mentioned "Walkman" and "yellow triangle", I realized it might be a straightforward solution. Fingers crossed.

I noticed you said " hopefully". If i do this i run the risk of not having a driver at all and possibly causing more problems like having all the songs on my mp3 lost as the mp3 will have to be connected in order to do this.. Have you actually done this before on your pc?

  6. I told you to install the diagnostic tool by m$. You said it would not let you run it. Did you offer any reason to why it did not run? Maybe we could of assisted you in getting it to work. Having a diagnostic tool running would be 100 times faster then us trouble shooting ideas. But you just wont help us help you.

The one i told you that would not allow me to go to powershell, the one which YOU accused me of lying about the option stating to recieve technical advise a charge will me added

My self and others have suggested system restore. But all you reply is i dont have the programs any more. If the problem happened yesterday then restore the day before and all you will loose is any programs installed in that time span. But you wont do this. why? Either you have no idea what system restore is and did not read the restore links my self and marmite provided or you installed hundreds of programs in the last 24 hours.

In all due respect , what you have advised me so far hasnt been worthwhile , so im not about to system restore. You failed to understand that i have no knowledge of pcs(which i mentioned a few times), and when you suggested the troubleshooting link. I honestly thought it would provide me with a quick fix. When i had problems with this you failed to come back with a basic explanation and to go through bit by bit on where to go etc. It seems its about trial and error and no one really knows and this trial and error if i completely listened would be to my disadvantage

I said i am thankful that people have taken the time to respond, but feel advice shouldnt be given if they do not fully understand it . I could not believe it when one person said Device Manager doesnt have a list of prgrams and im clearly looking at them <_<

If it really is down to a driver for the mp3 player, Here is an idea. How about post on the mp3 players forum. Or help line. They can probably direct you to a direct download.

I have spoken to the mp3 manufacturer who instructed me to reload the software . I did -nothing. He then said it seems like some cleaning software im using.. CCleaner is the only one i use

Have you tried going to my computer and trying to navigate to the folder via windows explorer? I don't bother with any software with my mp3.
again LIKE I SAID IN MY EARILER POST yes i do , i always copy and paste my music from them

In all honestity Ident , i think we better leave it there because you clearly havent been reading my posts very carefully. I have done nothing but repeat myself and getting frustrated . I will pay microsoft to sort it out one day and not use Ccleaner because its evident it is causing more damage than good

  7. You said

Perhaps you should re-read this thread and try some of the suggestions that have been made.

Also if you google your problem there are lots of hits. Some of the suggestions may work for you.

I have read the suggestions and one i followed ie: what ident told me and that didnt work, all it did was requesting that i download further software that i dont know anything about ie:powershell . It wouldnt allow me to click to access this . It kept directing me to the windows advice which is chargeable

I looked up google and it just sent me into a ball of confusion . Just because you dont know what the problem is , dont be underminding me :(

I have provided information people have asked . I have repeated myself again and again , but yet no one seems to know what the problem is

repeats again to Ross - contacting the repair guy means money and he is just going to take my pc back to its original settings - again , as i said earlier in the post. I DO NOT have most programmes that are already on my pc , so cannot reload them

It is clear no one really has a clue. I appreciate you trying to help . I was stupid enough to load the troubleshooting thing that Ident recommended , now i cannot find it on the "programs and features" to remove. That is why i didnt listen to him the first time. I should have followed through and listened to my instinct , not to download this .I asked him several times will it restore the drive as i dont want it to bring me to a site where i had to go through endless forums or peoples experiences of it. I was under the impression it was going to be a quick fix. It wasnt and im left frustrated

  8. The disc should have the driver on it.

urgh!!!! hazelhut , it doesnt make any difference . The walkman mp3 doesnt come with a disc the software is built into the system which uses the(same driver as the other mp3) . Reloading the disc will NOT solve the problem  . Plus i do not have the disc for the second ,mp3. God why do i have to constantly repeat myself. I said this already :(

Urgh im so frustrated with this.. all i want is to be able to put my music onto my mp3 player :(

  9. Device Manager doesn't list your files and programs.

    it has

    - T's PC

    - Computer

    -Display adapters

    -DVD/CD ROM

    -Floppy disk controllers

    -Human interface controllers

    -IDE ATA /ATAPI controllers

and the list goes on :(

Does it have a yellow triangle next to it?
yes i get a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the centre for both of the mp3s

Did you get a disc with the walkman?

The walkman cames with an internal software . When its pluged into the usb , it should automatically appear in my computer

The other mp3 comes with a disc, but equally be using without this . Again this means using the usb lead and this should show the driver on " my computer"

  10. Can you get into ANY part of the device manager?

Yes , in which it displays the files/prgrams etc

What is the name of the software you use (if any) to load music onto your MP3 player

I use an USB lead which is supplied with the mp3 player. When i connect this , it surpose to automatically load the software to enable me to drag and drop my music

So where within Device Manager were you when you got this mesage?

When i go to Device Manager i get a list of files/programs etc. I then go down to portable devices underneath it it has the name of my mp3 (walkman) when i make a right click to properties, i recieved the message

  11. If you can't even get into Device Manager without errors then there's something seriously wrong. Even more reason to try a previous restore point

I didnt say i couldnt get into Device Manager.I said once im in Device manager , then click on the device ( ie my mp3) go to properties , i recieved the message about the registry being damaged or incomplete

Or do you have system (Windows install DVD) or repair disks that you can boot off and do an installation repair?

    No i dont!

  12. Look, i know you aint on windows 7. No one is mentioning it. why you keep assuming we aqre....The article is for vista.

Can some one else on vista check Automated Troubleshooting Services because i seriously doubt it would charge.

You said you wont restore because you're worried about losing programs. How many programs could you of possibly of installed in the last 1/2 days or even a week that can't be replaced with a little bit of time.

The article it self has manual ways of trouble shooting. You can't even be bothered to read them.

If thats how you feel Ident i dont know why you even bother to responding to my posts. You cried about the fact that i didnt listen to you the 1st tme round. When i did and downloaded the troubleshooter and it wouldnt allow me to download the powershell but yet allowed me to download the advice section which MS charges to recifty the problem. You get mad about me not being bothered to manually read

You have got to understand that i am not technically minded as i stated before and i dont feel comfortable with all these downloads . After all it was using Ccleaner which got me in the position im in today - unable to access my driver software.

I have explained in details what messages im getting and have listened to some of your advices.

As quick as the driver disappeared , i want it to be installed just as quickly. I thought this would be the case when you provided me the link to the troubleshooting software :(

  13. I can't test it coz im xp, i doubt m$ would charge????

Any way, did you read the trouble shooting this error on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123 ????

Have you tryed the basic restore like i said first???

Ident ,MS charges.. I even contacted them and was told i will need to pay ?45 for this :( . Read above what i said about basic restore

Jam- as i said im previous message said when i wenr to device manager,

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

. which i did and as you know windows wont provide me with the solution without the ole bucks :(

And can i say yet again that i do NOT HAVE WINDOWS 7. I uninstalled this because it was causing problems with my pc

  14. If you read the first link i provided you would of see this.

"Note For help with device problems in Windows Vista, visit the following Microsoft Web site to automatically diagnose and repair problems with devices. For example, visit the following site when the device manager does not detect your hardware, audio, USB, or other devices or when your devices are disabled or not working. "

    Key word vista:

I can not be there to do it for you. I need you to read what i or others say.

A lot of the time when people ask questions we don't always automatically know the answer but we research the answer for you.

I have never had to deal with this problem so it's knew ground to me. So i need you to put the effort in as well :)

I can't see what the diagnostic tool says to you. I would assume it would be very straight forward if it found a error.

Ah its just more trouble than its worth.. I did what you said and now im just back to square one.. all it says is i will need to download windows powershell in order for the problem to be fixed . When i do this , the system would not allow me to . It only allows me to click on " other options to fix the problem" . When i do this the options it gives me is for technical advise which is chargeable :(.. THIS IS the very reason i was apprehensive about loading this . I want the driver to be reinstalled not read about what others say . Every pc's are different :(

  15. You havent the programs to restore? if the problem is new, which i assume it is, just restore from a day or 2 ago?

do you under stand what restore is? i'm not talking about reformatting

Its not a case of im not following what you say . Its a case of WILL it work.. I thought CCleaner was a means to an end and it was a savour for a short while but then messed up my system :( . I dont know what reformatting is and how will it help in relation to restoration of my driver?

  16. Probably since it's a registry error. Always back up and check entrys.

I suggest using ERUNT, it will make a back up at system start up of the registry

have you tried system restore yet and gone to the links i posted????/

Indent , No i havent system restore because i dont have the programmes to reinstall :(

May i ask what is thye point of using ERUNT now? will this reinstall the lost driver?... Im not pc lierate as you can see so if its not gonna work than whats the point

  17. Firstly you say you have been using ccleaner for 6 months with out any bad experiences. And now all of a sudden some thing has gone wrong so it must be ccleaner?

You have no evidence of this or not provided us any evidence to help assist you in correcting the problem.

Did you use the registry ccleaner recently? Can you remember last time the mp3 player worked properly?

If so have you tried restoring the pc to a previous time when working?

If you did run the registry cleaner did you make a back up? Have you tried merging the back up?

If it was the registry cleaner that may of possibly deleted an entry it's down to the user to check all entry's before deleting

First of all i would not accuse Ccleaners product has their had not been anything else i used . I mentioned that i was happy with it , so why would the accusation be pointed at CCleaners?. The reason being the error message i recieved on Device Manager which started the registry is incomplete or damaged.

When i experienced these slow runnings on my pc, i used Ccleaner . I used it everyday , since using it i hadnt been

    checking my driver software.

Even when i go onto the windows and try to update any of windows software in hopes this will restore the driver . It brings up a list of errors which wont allow any updates

I have already stated that i make it my duty to check what i am scanning and hadnt made any changes.. I did however go into Registry and clicked all on the list and scanned for issues.. Could this have caused it ?

  18. I have a pc ( windows vista basic ) which is just over a year old and had no problems with using the packages and was able to drag and drop my music onto my mp3.

After i upgraded to windows 7 , i encountered problems whereby my pc was increasingly slow. I called Microsoft who assisted me into removing this ( as they had admit - together with customer complaints , that windows 7 was causing this problem)..

Even though it was removed from my pc , i continued to experience increasinging amount of slowness and at times my pc will freeze for a min or so. Someone then mentioned CCleaner , so i tried it and it did help somewhat. When i experienced the big freeze and activate CCleaner , my pc began running again and ran a little bit faster. I used it for 6 months , but recently when i tried to load music from my music file, the driver software i use to put music onto my mp3 failed to activate.

At first i thought their was a fault with the mp3 - although when i connect the usb it shows on the mp3 that its connected..

I tried another mp3 and again the driver refused to activate

I tried the ports on my pc and they are all working properly

I went to Device Manager and got a message saying

Windows cannot load hardware as the registry is incomplete or damage , code 9

As i said i was always able to use my mp3 but since using ccleaner it seems it has damaged my software. How can this be retified???

And before someone says do i click the files before scanning them. Yes i do
