  1. Yes I have read this, and it does not sound like the same issue I am having. This thread is from 2022, and it can't be the same CCleaner version as I am running This user's PC is running Win 11 Pro 64 bit, version 21H2, and my PC is running Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 which is what came on it (never been upgraded) The CCleaner freeze on my PC never ends; I have left CCleaner open for hours, and it remains frozen until I end it with Task Manager My PC does not become unstable after ending CCleaner with Task Manager and continues to run just fine I don't see any resolution in that thread
  2. I also uninstalled CCleaner with Revo Uninstaller Free, restarted the PC, reinstalled CCleaner Slim Build, and the problem persists. The GUI is still totally frozen.

I did not reinstall the Slim build but reinstalled the standard version from https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download/standard. What is the slim build? Does it have all the functionality of the standard version?

  5. Yes, all three PC are running CCleaner 6.16, Windows 10 Home 22H2, and Trend Micro Maximum Security version 17.7.1951 with the latest updates. I have done the manual Trend updates. I have tried disabling Trend Micro to install, uninstall, reinstall, and run CCleaner all to no avail. I don't believe Trend Micro is the problem in this case.
  6. I have uninstalled, redownloaded, and reinstalled with same results. According to the link below, there is a command line /debug switch, but I have not tried that yet. I have tried these command line switches, and they do put me on the correct tab, but I cannot do anythning. The /cleaner switch still drops me on the Health Check screen because I haven't been able to change it to Custom Clean. /CLEANER (Opens Health Check or Custom Clean depending on which you have set as default) /REGISTRY /TOOLS /OPTIONS
  7. I downloaded CCleaner at https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download/standard. I cannot access the GUI at all. There is no way to change the options. Yes I waited until it finished cleaning from running /auto from command line before trying to click the interface. It doesn't provide status while cleaning. The GUI is stuck just like the orignal screenshot. The icon in the system tray indicates it is cleaning, but I see nothing in the main GUI other than what I originally posted. I would like to get CCleaner installed and working on this PC. Is there any debug information I can provide?
  8. I downloaded and installed the most recent version 6.16. This is the version that will not run. I did not previously have CClenaer installed on this PC. I am not running any other firewall. I did click the flashing tray icon while auto cleaning, and it did the exact same thing. It was frozen, and I could not click anywhere in the application.
  9. Running CCleaner64.exe /auto from the command line seems to work, but I can't do anything in the GUI, and I have no idea what has been cleaned if anything.
  10. I can't click anything in the CCleaner window I posted. Yes, I can click on CCleaner in Task Manager and end task. I am running Windows 10 Home 22H2. Yes, I have rebooted. I have Trend Micro Maximum Security version 17.7.1951 installed disabling it does not resolve the issue. I have three other PCs running Trend Micro Maximum Security version 17.7.1951 and have no issue running CCleaner.
  11. Again, I can't click anything on this window. I can't go to settings to change the home screen to custom clean. It is totally frozen. If there is a registry setting, I will be glad to try changing that to custom clean if you can provide the details.
  12. CCleaner freezes on startup. I can't click anything. I have let it sit like this for 30 minutes or so, and nothing happens. I have run the Windows 10 disk cleanup utility. Any idea what is happening?
  13. Well this is still a bug that should be investigaged. This will happen to users who have used ccleaner for a long time with the Advanced setting "Save all settings to INI file" enabled that have a cluttered INI file with settings from previous versions. Now I have to do the same thing for all my other family members, and it is a huge pain.
  14. I resolved the issue by deleting my old INI file, openning ccleaner to create a new bare bones INI file, and then manually customizing all my settings again based on screen shots I had taken of all my previous settings. There is definitely something left over from older versions in my old INI file that causes newer versions to stay in the sytem tray when running ccleaner from the recycle bin or command line.
  15. I performed addiitonal testing. I have the Advanced setting "Save all settings to INI file" enabled. If I disable this setting, the INI file disappears and nothing changes. I assume the settings are now contained in the registry. However, if I delete the INI file with "Save all settings to INI file" enabled and run ccleaner from recycle bin or the command line, ccleaner creates a new bare bones INI file and exits correctly, but all my custom settings are lost. I don't see anything obvious in the INI file that would make it stay in the System Tray after running it from the recycle bin or command line, but I am attaching my INI file. ccleaner.ini
  16. When I run it ccleaner by right clicking recycle bin or from command line, it stays in the system tray. I click it, and it opens as if it is running in the background. This happens on multiple windows 7, 10 and 11 computers. When I hover over it in the system tray, it says ccleaner ready. The screenshots below show cclenaer not running in system tray and then staying in system tray after running it from recycle bin. ccleaner opens if I click it in the system tray. Again, this happens on every computer I run ccleaner on.
  17. CCleaner stays in the System Tray after I right-click Recycle Bin and run CCleaner even though I have Smart Cleaning and automatic update disabled. The same thing happens when I run CCleaner.exe /AUTO from the command line. I don't want CCleaner to ever stay in the System Tray, and it did not do this several revisions ago. I have the free version of CCleaner for personal home use.
  18. I would like to see a command line option for /method to be used with /auto. For example my global settings are to use Secure Deltion with Advanced Overwrite (7 passes) so that I can "shred" files that I send to the recycle bin. But I have a scheduled task that runs every night using the command line /auto flag. I would prefer to set the method to "normal delete" for my nightly task since I have an SSD drive with limited writes. Currently the /delete flag must be used with the /method flag which requires the path to be specified for all files to be deleted, and the /auto flag cannot be used with /delete and/or /method. Another option would be to allow a special INI file to be used with the command line /auto flag to allow different options to be used for a nightly cleanup rather than a manual clean up.
  19. Defraggler 1.15.163 hangs when I set it to move files larger than 1000MB to the end of the drive. It stays at 1% for 20+ hours with no hard disk activity consuming 50% CPU. I can't even stop the defrag from Defraggler. I have to end Defraggler.exe task in Task Manager. However, Defraggler screams when I disable the option to move large files to the end of the drive and finishes in reasonable time. However, I would like to move some ZIP and other files larger than 1000MB to the end of the drive. I get the same issue when running Defraggler GUI or command line df.exe C: /Large *.* 1000M. I should mention that this is my corporate laptop running Pointsec for drive encryption. Not sure if that matters or not.
