  1. I have a problem with Windows Update. I get to the page and the green bar starts moving but instead of then getting a list of available updates all I get is this error: [Error number: 0x80240030] The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem. For self-help options: Frequently Asked Questions Find Solutions Windows Update Newsgroup For assisted support options: Microsoft Online Assisted Support (no-cost for Windows Update issues) Read more about steps you can take to resolve this problem yourself. Also I searched for solutions to Error number: 0x80240030 and followed all the instructions provided but nothing seems to work. Any ideas anybody?
  2. I'm having a shitload of trouble with Ubuntu at the moment... screen not centered, network not right etc etc and I tried d/l clam but when it installs it fails and i get errors all over the place even after pressing the shut down/restart button... When I do get all that stuff fixed and working, if ever, I will be sure to use those sites!
  3. I think it must have been that because the firewall was blocking it, so thanks!
  4. Well, I'm having some trouble with my repositories and so I can't install it right now, but when I do I'll give you my opinion!
  5. Fresh as fresh can be and also a fresh version of WinXP (just formatted). Next time I boot up and get onto Windows I'll reinstall though, like you said!

    Avast! Help!

Avast! keeps giving me a small reddish pop up frame just above the system tray area telling me it's having trouble updating. I poked about and checked everything in the program and all the connection settings seem to me to be correct. I try to manually download updating via Tools/Updating and clicked on both of the options there and nothing seems to happen. In Settings there are also some options for manually updating and "update now", I've tried them all and yet that red pop up keeps coming up. What am I doing wrong?
  7. Anybody know any good free software for Linux? Especially Anti virus and Firewall applications.
