  1. The member discussed in the previous post is an elderly gentleman and novice (more power to his/her kind I say) and will help best I can. From the link previously provided, and the additional posts since, CCleaner is a highly regarded 'must have' on your PC. Thanks Tarq for your response to my original question. I hope should the need arise, I can prevail upon you and your fellow forum members for help and guidance as previously. I think this is another we can knock on the head. ade
  2. Hi Tarq No 'fraid not , My AV is the blue skeleton at the computer, posts = quite a few. My thoughts on the matter are it's purely a coincidence that the e.mail files have been removed. Rogerman40 likes the program as much as I do as you can see. Guess it'll have to wait till tomorrow now then to try and retrieve his lost files and dispel his negativity towards CCleaner. What I've noticed more and more it's the people who wouldn't have a clue how to clean their system of a quarter of what CC does that are most critical Thanks again Ade
  3. Thanks for taking a look anyways Tarq57. You can see what I'm up against here though. I'm recommending CCleaner when appropriate and all it takes is a few misplaced comments of a derogatory nature to put others off. This was the link I was referring too. http://forums.computeractive.co.uk/thread....?threadID=95937 I can access the other too, strange. Thanks again ade
  4. Could CCleaner in any way clearout a persons e.mail files. Can't see how myself, http://forums.computeractive.co.uk/thread....#55921; I've taken to task Members of the forum I frequent regarding issues with CCleaner but want to get my fact right 100% on this one. I have previously been grateful of your help and support. Thank you in anticipation ade
  5. Thanks Woody and all. From the link posted you can probably see things have gone very quiet at the moment. Think I'll give it a day or two then ask the question (same link).
  6. My Post http://forums.computeractive.co.uk/thread....?threadID=92052 Is it me, am I going insane!!!! or do I need to offer them an apology Hobbit (AKA, ade on the above link)
  7. Thanks woody. O.K. now there's two of them on my back saying their systems are always updated automatically. Is there anything/anywhere I can direct them to show this is not the case. I did download begginers guide but that did not provide the info required. Cheers
  8. Cheers Woody, Is that a yes I must download and install Or Yes ccleaner will auto install. On another forum of which I'm an active member, another is arguing the fact that he does nothing but 'sit back' his program is always uptodate.
  9. Hope I'm in the right place to post this Q and it's a bit basic I know. When the box Automatically check for updates is selected, and notification received of such, do i still need to physically download that update or can CCleaner be configured to do this as well. Many Thanks Hobbit
  10. Thanks very much for that U.P. I'll give them a go first thing in the morning. Have a good one in 2006
  11. Hi All, hope I've posted this in the correct place. Having tried a number of free registry cleaning programs, and being a computer illiterate, I've encountered a number of problems once the programs have run. Please? How safe is it to run the Reg cleaner with CCleaner if I tick yes to cleanup everything?

Hi, Hate to differ but I have been rescued by this program more than once. Does GoBack relate to Norton in some way? If so don't think I'll be entertaining this suggestion. V.V.bad experience with Norton in the past..

Hi. My problem exactly only It does not matter how many time I reboot, 5 times consecutively last time, simply cant access System Restore without first uninstalling CCleaner. P.S. I do value CCleaner and have recommended it to all my friends.

Thanks for replying Tarun, but why should I remove Windows Me System Restore!!!!!!,one of the redeeming features of this version of windows. Honestly given the choice between CCleaner and System Restore there is no contest. Ideally I was looking for a solution that would enable me to run both progs.

    Conflict

Hi Guys. Bit of a problem! It seems CCleaner comes into conflict with my windows me System Restore prog. If I install CCleaaner System Restore will not work advising me to re-boot. Whilst CCleaner is installed this is a continuous cycle of events. By uninstalling CCleaner the System Restore again works perfectly. Any suggestions as to where the problem lies would be most grateful as I value both programs. Thanks.
