HA HA HA .... Beware of CCLeaner! Hubby is fantastic!

New info. Hubby had IT guy take a look at his laptop. The program that got downloaded was called Speed Fix and it loaded a TON of viruses onto his laptop. Shut the sound off, no access to internet, and wiped ALL FILES. This popped up when he was running CCleaner so people need to beware!!!!!!!!!!

My husband downloaded the original program directly from CCleaner. He said the "update" was a pop up that did not lead him to a website. He just clicked on "okay" or "install" or whatever and it proceeded to "clean" his computer. "Clean" it did - there's nothing left. I guess he was scammed and didn't check out who was sending it to him. I've already scolded him.

Yesterday as I was running CCleaner on my laptop, a pop up came up inviting me to download a new CCleaner program - it said it would make my system run faster - I downloaded it and it completely wiped my laptop clean. All of my files are GONE. I can't even get on the internet now even after restoring it to factory settings. Is this a scam or is this a legitimate program CCleaner is promoting?
