  1. Spyware terminator seems to me to have taken over, I wanted to remove it but no matter how I try to get it off my computer I get the Error 6:the handle is invalid. I have tried CCleaner and Windows uninstall and get the same message

Can anyone give me a way to get rid of this program? I sure would appreciate any help I can get

    Thank you

    Joanie707 :(

    Hi Joannie

I have had similar problems with Spyware Terminator you could try downloading Revo uninstaller its a good tool if used carefully if you have half uninstalled Terminator allready it may not show up in revo uninstaller so reinstall Terminator then uninstall it using Revo uninstaller it will remove most if not all remnants of Spyware Terminator and of course then run CCleaner I realise this is a long winded process but it as worked for me many times.

    Good Luck

    Steve

    PS

    Try Superantispyware

  2. I am afraid I had to uninstall Deffraggler it lost some files that my son had backed up on his pc and after I ran it on my PC I lost half a dozen pictures so it had to go.

  3. Hi Steve,

This link may show why it "seems" to be so fast. It is not doing a very good job of actually defragmenting and its reports are questionable also.

    http://donnedwards.openaccess.co.za/2007/0...ogics-disk.html

    http://donnedwards.openaccess.co.za/2007/1...isk-defrag.html

The Windows Disk Defragmenter does better in all areas.

"Defraggler" is much faster at "actually defragging files or disks."

Auslogics does not do whole disks.

Thanks Davey I will give defraggler a go.

  4. From what I gather, both SUPERAntiSpyware & SpywareBlaster do not need to actively run on windows startup, is this correct?

As far as I understand it...after installation of SpywareBlaster, you don't need to open the program except for doing manual updates or to change settings etc....i.e. it does its job just by being installed on your PC. Is this correct?

Also, am I correct in assuming that I treat SUPERAntiSpyware like I would treat Ad-Aware...i.e. just run the program periodically to check for spyware?

Thank you again for your time, I really appreciate it!

Hi Razz I use both of these progs and they are pretty good as you say Spywareblaster just runs in the background and stops spyware entering your pc just update now and again. Superantispyware yes the same as Adaware you have to manually update it does run in your start up progs but I assume this for automatic updates for the paid version but you can easily turn this off.

    hope this helps

    Steve

  5. Yes you can change your Homepage and its faster than almost all other browsers though it is a bit heavier than most but most want speed and it delivers on that count I like it but not as much as Firefox.

  6. Hi Steve,

I did mine online like Hazel.

If memory serves me it was only a 60 some MB download based on the status of my system.

I already had SP2 completely up to date.

Followed Hazel's and Dennis' advice and turned everything off including any scheduled tasks or screen savers.

I have 2004 DEll with 256 MB and approx. 350 KBp/s download and it took about 1/2 hour download and 1/2 hr to install.

The people that had the most problems were mainly HP,Compaq or custom PC users with AMD processors but even that has been fixed by MS from my reading.

    Good luck,

    :) davey

Thanks Davey my pc is Packard Bell so I hope things should go well.

  7. I just installed it a couple of days ago Steve with no problems. I did it from a downloaded ISO file burned to CD.

IMO the best way to do it. You can turn everything off, AV, Firewall etc with no risk, and you nullify the inherent risks that come with online installs.

Stick the CD in, and the Wizard guides you through it.

    Good luck.

Thanks Dennis sounds like a good idea to me. I clicked on your link wow its a big download 544mb if I ido install it I will certainly do it your way.

    Thanks

    Steve

  8. Hi Hazelnut

I own a Weihrauch HW77 K air rifle if need be this would cure your problem instantly may be a little drastic I know but pidgeon pie is very nice with a bottle of red.

    Thanks

    Steve

  9. Hi Dennis

I completely agree Dead Mans Shoes seen it myself for about the third time the other night as you say very gritty not the usual over produced loud Bullcrap we often get from over seas but good British reality often arrowing but after saying that reality often is.

  10. Hi Everyone

I am new so bear with me I have noticed many people recommending Picasa which is great I use it and I think it is the best free photo editing softeware out there and so easy to use but be careful because it does scan all your private folders unless you set it to do otherwise which is a little worrying.

TO STOP Picasa scanning all your private files go into picasa click on tools at top of page then go into folder manager there you can choose which folders you want Picasa to scan just highlight the folder and click remove from Picasa.

    Hope this helps

    Steve
