  1. Thanks for the feedback guys. I finally have my PC restored --minus a few items that weren't backed up. Not one to be deterred by disaster, I reinstalled CCleaner and turned it loose on the new setup... and it worked perfectly. Don't know what happened the first time but judging from the overwhelming positive feedback for CCleaner on the site I figured it had to be a fluke. As much as I hated to reinstall everything (especially all the Windows updates) I think it was the quicker fix for me. Any software site that has a helpful forum has got to have a good product line. -Brian
  2. After using CCleaner for the first time (using all the basic default settings) then shutting down, my PC wouldn't reboot. It would get as far as the initial Windows XP screen and then flicker back to the Compaq logo. I tried more tricks than a Bombay hooker but couldn't get Windows up to be able to use the Restore feature. After a few hours I gave up and am slow formating that hard drive for a new install of everything. I don't really enjoy that option but when you think about it a format and new OS install is the ultimate cleaning. I'd like to give CCleaner another chance on that PC if I could be sure that this wouldn't happen again.
