  1. It just hit me that sometimes, Windows Explorer just hang and looks as if it is looking for something and can't find it. Windows Explorer is not the only thing that is affected. Shared windows functions such as File Open / Save dialog boxes are also affected. So, I googled and found this blog by Sysinternal's Mark - http://blogs.technet.com/markrussinovich/a...orer-hangs.aspx It seems like for some reason, Windows or Explorer will actually cache associations on the network locations. If the network locations are missing or removed, these associations will not be removed and stays in the registry. Is it possible for CCleaner to include a routine to check for these "dead" associations and remove them to speed up Explorer launching? So far, I notice this happens to XP and also Vista. Cheers, jmang.
