  1. Fortunately I had a 5 month old Ghost of my system... because when I "really" needed restore.. it wasn't there... when I brought up my system from the ghost image, I noted the same anomally with the version of CC I had on that older image... it was version 2.18. Since CC works off a thumbdrive, I commonly update it on my thumbdrive and then just copy it to my hardrive and it works fine, but then I thought after reading how one of the later versions "removed the option" to delete the latest system restore that maybe a true install would make the difference... it didn't. Bottom line CC has a bug! If you don't want to delete all your system restore logs, "don't" check to clean the recycle bin. Funny thing is even when its checked, it shows very little being removed if the recycle bin was already empty, but it sure deletes the system restore!!! The indication of whats being deleted is also false and deceptive. CC is doing things behind the scenes that are not reflected in the monitor of logs.... This shatters my trust in CC even though I"ve used it for a couple of years now. I can't gripe for something that is free, I guess I can't expect them to stay on top of all the issues with no money!
  2. Yes... it took be a while by process of elimination to finally figure that out!
  3. I too did not have a system restore log anywhere... I could create one and look and yes it was there.. then run ccleaner and poof!.. it was gone! I finally discovered it happens when you have "Empty Recycle bin" ticked under system....... what gives???? I see this as a definate bug.... I run Win xp pro.
  4. That does sound like a deliema.... humm..... Most AV softwares and the like scan whatever drive you choose, it seems CC does not give you a choice.. if you chose the whole drive the "ok" button will not come on... only when you choose a "directory"....... That does defeat the purpose for those with the OS on D drive..... if you changed the drive letter designation, it would not work either because the registry is already written to find everything on D.... Unless I'm missing something it seems you will have to use another software unless they are willing to allow scan of whole drives be election.
  5. I use Portable FF... not problems at all... some of the older USB drives can be quite slow.... even though they claim "usb 2" speeds. Also if your thumbdrive is almost full.. there's no elbow room on the drive.... it may run better if you get a bigger drive or clear some stuff off. A good way to "defrag" thumbdrive is to copy every thing to a temp file on your hardrive, then delete everything on your thumbdrive... a format is cleanest, then copy it all back on... that too may help. Also under the "advanced" tab in FF... don't let your cache size be over about 20mb or so....it will only load down your thumbdrive. lastly, you can go to "tools" in FF, then "addons", then in the lower right click "get extensions" when you get to the page, put in the search box "network tweak"... when that page comes up click on "Network tweak".. I don't recommend the one that says "faster firefox".. it makes your cache work in the background too much and the other one will set the proper settings for you . Anyway... click on the link that says "install now", once its installed.. let it restart firefox. Once it comes back up go back to tools, drop down to the new entry that says "tweak network settings" and click on the "power" button in the lower right hand area and click ok. One last thing to can "alter" on those setting that hitting the power button makes is to: set ?network.http.pipelining.maxrequests? to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. I'm at work on a protected system where most settings are locked out.. These setting are adjusting FF alone.. but it helps the browsing speed... and you don't have to worry about upsetting some network administrator at work. Hope some of this helps.
  6. I"m tired of it deleting my "history.dat" in Firefox.. I want an option to turn that off.... do I have to include it in my "excluded" files? Another fix is to temporarily rename it to history.bak and run CC , then name it bak to history.dat. I don't even see firefox included in the "applications" tab?... why not?
  7. it designed to clean trash files or undesirables on the main drive. Unless your OS in installed on D, theres no reason it should go to D to clean things its designed to clean. It's not mean't to be a forensic cleaner or deleter.. only to know "where" to go to get all the little hidden history files and registry entries and the like that most people don't know how or where to find them. There are many good progs to delete things... you might check out this one.... Eraser v5.82 r2 Portable or even this one that can also restore..... Restoration and Deleter v2.5.14 Portable
