  2. Thanks for your reply. Apparently this is to control a custom location for the profile. My FF profile didn't move. I only used an option (not surfaced through the GUI in Toold|Options) to change the location of the temp files. If CCleaner was able to read that, it could know the location without any customization.
  3. Hello, in Firefox it's possible to change the location of the cache by accessing directly the configuration. Type abut:config in the address bar, click to dismiss the warning and go to browser.cache.disk.parent_directory If it doesn't exist, you can create an entry of type string with that name and assign a value. For example, I have as value J:\inetcache\firefox then FF puts the temporary files inside J:\inetcache\firefox\Cache The problem is that CCleaner doesn't read this value and then it leaves this directory unmodified. I have to use a custom folder, but I would prefer that CCleaner automatically pick this location, since it's a documented way to change the place for temporary files in FF. I'm using CCleaner v2.28.1091 so I think there's no new version. Thanks.
  4. Hello, I discovered (using Process Monitor) that Windows Media Player (wmplayer.exe), at least old version 7 (and others shouldn't be too different) stores the list of all music and video I've seen in \Profiles\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Index\wmplibrary_v_0_12.db When I click on Media Library option in WMP, the list of all things I've heard or viewed is inside this file. Maybe CCleaner could have an advanced option to get rid of it as part of the cleaning process. It will get rid of things stored explicitly there with the "Add to library" option, but its a price to pay for (optional) higher privacy, I think. C.
  5. Hello, it would be nice to add more capabilities to the option Advanced|Hotfix uninstallers I have it checked, but today a clunky program named Secunia PSI (it seems it stalled at version 0.1.0.2) that I run from time to time, warned me that I had a MDAC version that was vulnerable and unpatched. It turns out that MDAC patches have the following way to save files in case you want to undo the patch: A hidden directory named G:\WINNT\$SQLUninstallMDAC28SP1-KB927779-x86-ENU$ and you get the idea. Currently CCleaner cannot detect this but it would be nice if it can in the future in the "Hotfix uninstallers" item. Thanks. C.
  6. Claudio is a Spanish name, too. My Windows 2000 is the English version. The problem is that I started using a custom location for the cache, I think. CCleaner picked the new location automatically, but forgot to give index.dat the special treatment it deserves. C.
  7. Hello, following my post on problems with Firefox and custom cache location (that I least I can circumvent) I found one that I can't fix. The objective of moving the cache was to free space on the system partition where the operating system resides. Oh, well, in MSIE it's rather easy to change the cache location, since it's done in the Options dialog. Now it resides under J:\cache\msie\ and IE created automatically J:\cache\msie\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 Here I found another index.dat as expected. Interestingly, CCleaner picks the custom cache location automatically but it doesn't touch index.dat! I checked with one of Mark Russinovich freewares (pendmoves.exe) and CCleaner is not scheduling this index.dat for deleting at reboot time. If I put it into the custom files (with full path, of course) I add exactly the aforementioned file J:\cache\msie\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\index.dat but nothing happens after running CCleaner. I understand it's trying to delete the file immediately and obviously it can't and there's no way in this CUSTOM window to tell CCleaner to schedule a deletion at reboot. All deletions are immediate and may fail silently. Now the question is why CCleaner understood the new IE cache location without manual intervention mine but forgot to apply the proper technique to index.dat; indeed it looks like another bug to me. C.
  8. Hello, I'm using CCleaner v1.41.544 so I think I'm up to date. I changed the default location of the cache in Firefox 2.0.X. Not very strange, CCleaner can't find it and reports zero bytes to be removed (it already picked the other items I have checked). How did I change it? Have a look here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.cache.di...arent_directory Basically I modified the configuration directly. Probably finding this is not something that will be hardcoded some day in CCleaner, hence I want to ask: is there a way to teach it to read Firefox configuration? I know I could simply go to Options|Custom and put the new directory, but I wanted something that works always in sync with the Firefox settings. BTW, in the Custom page, is there a way to add a directory but only with some files using a wilcard? For example: f:\data\*.ibq Thanks C.
