  1. Hi duffy, You can still get the old version (1.41) at this link. CCleaner 1.4 Sorry to see others are experiencing the same problem as I have experienced. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. Have a good day. Regards, 2harts4ever
  2. Evening everyone, In case anyone is still following this thread I have an update. I just got done reinstalling Vs 2.0 again and I still can't get CC to 'fix' any issues it finds during my registry scan. As I said earlier today when I went back to Vs 1.41 everything worked fine but now when I tried once again to use the new version I still can't get CC to acknowledge the issues it finds are actually fixed the way it did in previous versions. I am now back to vs 1.41 again and all is well. I am just curious if anyone else is having the same problem? Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
  3. Hi q231, Yes, I am using Zone Alarm and it won't delete the one item as you stated. My problem is it won't 'fix' anything I select since I went to the new version. For now I am back to 1.41 and everything is A-OK so I will leave it like that until I have more time to play with it. Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
  4. Howdy, Thanks for the link but I took the coward's way out. I uninstalled the new version (2.0) and reinstalled 1.41 and everything is working again. I will just hold off awhile before trying to install the new version again. Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
  5. Morning, There is no error message. When I go to the Registry cleaner and click on 'Scan for Issues' it does just that. However, this is where my problem starts. If CC finds any issues and after I make a backup and try to fix them nothing happens. If I run another scan right away it finds the same issues I just tried to fix although CC does put a copy of what I backed up in my CC backup folder. Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
  6. Howdy, Since installing the new 2.0 CC version I am unable to 'fix' registry items after I do a registry scan. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever

    Ccleaner

Hi Elijah5, I run AVG Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S&D along with Windows Defender and my Firewall and anti-virus program and none of them detect any problems with the new CCleaner version. Your program most likely is finding a 'false positive'. Regards, 2harts4ever

Hi Franky, When I upgraded to the new version my cookie 'keeps' were automatically saved to the new version. You should experience the same thing. Regards, 2harts4ever
  9. Hi Gmx, Open Crap Cleaner > click on 'cleaner' > then under 'Internet Explorer' unclick the 'delete index.dat files' entry. Only do it if you are having trouble saving passwords and the like after installing IE7. Regards, 2harts4ever
  10. Hi TwistedMetal, StarshipTrooper, hazelnut and all, Thank-you ... thank-you ... thank-you!!! I successfully downloaded and installed IE7 yesterday and everything went as smooth as silk. However, I too noticed that after using Crap Cleaner none of my forum log-ons were being saved. Finally, just a few minutes ago I came to this forum and StarshipTrooper had the fix. Unchecking ' index.dat deletion' under Internet Explorer has worked for me too. Does anyone know if doing this (unchecking 'index.dat') will cause any problems? Hopefully Crap Cleaner will fix this quirk soon because it is a first-rate program and I use it faithfully. Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
  11. Hi aqumon and Tarun, Thanks for the generous offer of assistance should I need it again (which I most likely will ...lol). Regards, 2harts4ever
  12. Hi Tarun, I appreciate both links. I will certainly check them out. Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
  13. Hi Tarun, If this recent response I found half way down the forum page under the heading 'Advanced Options' is accurate I guess I need nothing translated. agumon Oct 19 2005, 09:08 AM Post #2 X-Evolution Group: Members Posts: 1,066 Joined: 26-November 04 From: Digital World Member No.: 151 QUOTE IIS Log Files IIS (Internet Information Server) is the service Windows uses to display web pages. This comes with most XP Pro and Windows 2000 installations and is generally only used by web developers or designers. Every time someone requests a page it gets logged to a text file. Unless the computer is a web server, these are generally not needed, and may be safely deleted. This option will safely delete these files. Menu Order Cache The Start menu allows you to set a custom order to the programs listed, although there's no option to sort all folders by name. Selecting this option removes any custom ordering from the Start menu. Tray Notifications Cache In Windows XP the System Tray (the set of icons next to the clock in the bottom-right corner) orders and hides items automatically for you. Whilst this is useful, it records a list of every program that has been run from the tray. This option clears the list of previous programs and removes any custom display/hide options. (Warning: This won't have any affect until you manually restart the explorer process from the Task Manager.) Window Size/Location Cache Windows Explorer stores the view formatting and ordering settings for each folder on your system. After some time, this can contain a large amount of redundant data and may even slow down browsing for files on your system. Selecting this option will clear this data and reset the Windows Explorer display settings to their default option. User Assist History The start menu on Windows XP displays a list of the most recently run programs. Selecting this option will clear this list. -------------------- --==aGumon==-- Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
  14. Hi rridgely, Thanks for posting back with your thoughts and suggestion. No, I hadn't tried clicking on them until after your suggestion. However, after seeing some of the messages when clicking on them tonight, I guess with my limited computer knowledge I had better let 'well-enough alone' and stick to the basics. Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
  15. Good morning, I just got done reading 'Beginner's Guide' by TwistedMetal and found it very informative. I thank him for taking the time to write it. However, I do have a question on the 'Advanced' feature. I still am not clear on exactly what happens if I use this feature. I noted that TwistedMetal recommended to run it at least once a month. Is there any further information available that could tell me exactly what I should check in this feature and what will happen as a result of it? Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
