  1. Amazon has a few Brother/HP/ and samsung laser printers for about $150 or less(some as cheap as $60). The cartridges are anywhere from 30-50 or more. I'm not looking for one with 5 cartridges or anything, those prices are fine compared to what I'm paying right now.

I read some reviews but I was just looking for someone who has any experience with them.

  2. Holding off on windows updates is a bad idea in my opinion. At the very least make sure you install ALL security updates.

Don't want to update windows media player or something, then fine, but update IE and every other part of windows (and office) that microsoft marks critical.

I don't use xp anymore, but I do remember thinking my laptop took longer to boot(a few seconds maybe) after SP3. I didn't care though, the security updates were worth it.

  3. Can anyone give me some good advice on a laser printer? I just want something good that will save me from buying $15 cartridges that don't print enough.

I'm going to keep my current printer(lexmark all in one), so I don't need color or a scanner. Just a good and cheap laser printer with cheap cartridges.

    What do you guys use?

  4. I beat this game over my Christmas break off school. Awesome game.

At first I didn't like the motion controls but by the end I got used to it. I think it took me 40 hours to beat.

  5. I wouldn't spend the money to fix this pc if its that old. You could get a better computer for about an extra $100 than what your going to replace the motherboard and cpu. Look on dell.com, hp.com, ect and see what kind of deal you can get. (or build it yourself, but I don't recommend that to everyone. only if you really want to do it.)

You could get lucky and find the replacement parts cheaper on ebay. 200+ is too much for old parts.

One thing to try though would be to take the video card out and try to boot the pc. I think its more likely it just died than that last blast of air doing anything.(unless you blew it directly onto the cpu fan while its running(in which case I'm still not sure it would hurt it. Never done it though).

  6. Ok, so I was exploring my laptop(lenovo I bought a few months ago) and noticed that it had a program in the Windows Live folder in my start menu called Live Mesh. I always skipped installing that on my other computers but it was preinstalled on this one.

I usually skipped it because I didn't know what it did, BIG MISTAKE. This thing is awesome.

I'm not sure if anyone here uses dropbox but live mesh is basically the same thing but way cooler. You can synch up to 5gb of files onto skydrive that will sync with other computers just like drop box(but drop box only gives you 2gb for free). Another cool thing about this is that because it syncs your files with skydrive, the files can be edited in the free versions of MS office that skydrive has on it(like google docs, but MS Office based).

On top of file syncing it also allows remote connections. So you can access the files on one computer even if it wasn't in your "sync" folder. It will also sync your Internet Explorer favorites and your office settings(templates, custom dictionary, styles, ect).

I was already using skydrive because it allowed me to automatically save my documents created in office 07 directly to it. This allows me to synch the rest of the stuff I was doing in drop box but now its all in one location. This is a must have if you regularly use more than one computer. In my case its that I hate using a laptop at home, but I do most of my work on it. This allows me to use my desktop without transferring everything onto a flash drive, which is easy to loose.

The windows live programs are my single favorite thing about upgrading from xp to windows 7. I love live mail, movie maker, photo gallery, and now live mesh. Only part of the suite I don't use is messenger(I use skype), and the family controls(which are great if you have kids, but I don't).

  7. Should be good. I love my touchpad, I now use it more than I use a computer for just browsing and watching videos. (still use my pc and laptop for real work though) Seriously considering buying the next ipad. :o

  8. Update your PS3, and you'll get a nice "Warning" screen at every startup now. It's annoying that it can't be turned off!

I just updated my PS3 to see what you were talking about. That is pretty annoying, I'm not sure why they felt the need to put that warning on there 5 years later?

I have to say that sony might be the worst software maker ever. I love my ps3 but their updates are AWEFUL. I updated my 360 in under five minutes and it was a complete overhaul, it seems like every time I want to use my ps3 there is a new 15 minute install.

  9. Just remembered something hazel. When I logged on it made me accept new terms of service for xbox live. If whoever you know declined those then that may be the cause. I think you can fix it by logging into xbox live on pc and accepting it.

  10. I have 360, ps3, and wii.

I'm in the middle of school hell(ALMOST OVER!) so I haven't been playing as much as I'd like.

When I get done next week I'm going to buy the following:

Batman Arkham City, Zelda Skyward Sword, Assassins Creed Revelations, and Uncharted 3. I'll probably play through Zelda first and then Batman.

(black friday I'm going to head out to bestbuy. :P )
