  1. Thanks Hazelnut, Interesting reading, but not what I was thinking of. I don't want to run the programme at every log in for every user - as I'm probably the only one that would understand it or dare use it! But I would, when I clean my own 'side', like to be able to look at everything on the pc that might need cleaning at one go. This does not look at a first glance to be possible with cccleaner, although it appears that recuva, does recuva from more than my own profile (although how much more I have not yet been enlightened on as per my question.). Nice to hear from you nevertheless. Cheers, S
  2. Hi all, Was prompted to update my cccleaner and hence discovered the recuva link and this forum. Have updated the former and downloaded the latter, and it is somewhat pleasing to see that when I delete a programme it does show up in the files discovered by recuva. On the other hand it says: 'Choose a location to recover the files to', rather than restoring them to their original locations. Does this mean that even though I can apparently recover the programme files I will not actually end up with a runnable programme? If they are recoverable, how should one proceed to get them back as they were before the delete and ensure that a recovered programme runs? A related point is that I have several users on this pc and would like to be able to check for such accidental deletions for all users at one scan. From the 'tree' view in recuva it appears that I can recover from other user's profiles (even though I only see one recycled bin?). I have previously (without recuva) tried to find accidental deletes by other users but been stymied because the recycled bins of other users are corrupted if one tries to change the access permissions for them. Does recuva actually look for everything on the hard drive regardless of profiles and permissions? As a newbie I would appreciate some enlightenment on these points. I might add that running cccleaner it only seems to clean my own profile area, whereas the tree view in recuva shows other files as well. I would like to be able to 'clean' all profiles and the whole drive at one log in: can this be done? Anyhow, thanks to all at piriform, and I hope I haven't bored you all by going over old ground. Cheers, S
