1st post - go easy
I found my way here after posting for help elsewhere. I'd finally worked out that Regseeker was trashing Flash Player (took me a while )
However, the fix (I think) knackered my system!
I managed to work out how to use the back-up but...
Regseeker found over 1000 things to 'sort' - although I think I can explain why. I had been having problems with Microsoft.Net. that I couldn't fix and ignored, until something needed it! That was finally deleted when Microsoft support solved the issue and V2 is now on and working. Also, I finally gave up on Roxio (and all the masses of programs it installs) and am trying Nero. So I guess lots of deletes and a month since I'd run RegSeeker = lots of cleaning up?
The main issue before I put the registry back was blue screen/shut down (before I could read it) and false start up when I was trying to burn / back up discs. Windows media player couldn't find any burning devices loaded and neither could realplayer - and still can't even with registry restored. But by way of a test, Nero has just done a music CD and a huge data back up to DVD, so at least something is working. (Maybe it's 'stolen' control of the CD/DVD writers??) Maybe it wasn't regseeker but deleting Roxio?
How can I clean out all the rubbish but not knacker my system? (I notice there are different colours in what Regseeker wants to delete? What would that do? Also I've taken out the update which a previous post in this thread found for me and just cut and pasted in the bit for Flash - good plan or not??)
Sorry so many questions and a bit jumbled
