If you are running Windows 11 (I am, but I am very new to it), note that there is a setting under control panel/power options for Fast Startup that may keep certain programs running. I have turned off Fast Startup and my "Edge needs to close" message has gone away. You may need to reboot after turning it off to see the result. This is different from Startup Boost, FYI. I had that turned off and I still got the message. Note that it will take some longer for the OS to start. That's fine by me.
